I remember a thread started by a guy who called himself Big Bad John who was hoping to become a WWF 'superstar'. Anyone know if this is the man himself? Click here and then click on 'Superstars' and 'Big Bad John'. He does list his favourite band as Metalica which may not be folk but sure shows he has good taste - just like me...:-)

If you are still lurking out there BBJ let us know!

Cheers

DtG, what do you mean, Metallica " may not be folk" ?

They recorded, "Whiskey in the Jar", didn't they ?

Murray

That's true Murray - Never thought of that! Apparantly Thin Lizzie recorded it as a joke though - and Metallica copied them so I dunno who has the last laugh there;-)

Oh, come now, DtheG, you don't suppose that a wrestling website would say on the guy's profile that his favorite band was "J.D. Crowe and the New South" or "Beau Soleil", do you? That wouldn't be cool enough for them; they wouldn't think it would attract their target audience! ...but I wouldn't be surprised if they were wrong...*G*

Sure sounds like it's him. (Certainly sounds as if it were he.) The Eclectic Mudcat...

My memory's not good. But I seem to remember he started off and did some work on low pay to get the name sort of established, then WWF basically took the name off him and gave it to someone else. So the WWF BBJ isn't the original BBJ off here.

Graham.

Here are his posts.

This guy said he was a mere 242 pounds, but I guess he could have bulked up. Nice muscles...nice, BIG muscles...

It could be him--I hope it is, and that he is back on his career track-- he was a genuine traditional musician and a genuine nice guy, as well--I love the way he pointed out that professional wrestling and professional folk music has some strong common points! (thanks for posting the link to his posts, Jeri!)

It seems to me that I recall him posting that he was going to try to get started in wrestling again, using the name A Boy Named Sue.
