Subject: brass band arrangement for morris From: GUEST,Alex Date: 01 Aug 02 - 11:07 AM I am trying to get hold of a brass band arrangement of the Rochdale Coconut tune (either the Clow Bank version or the Rochdale Coconut Dance) so the Morris side I dance and play with could do a double spot with our local band. I have approached Stackstead Band (who do this with the Nutters every Easter) and through my local band, but to no avail. Can anyone out there help ? Cheers Alex (Holmfirth) |

Subject: RE: brass band arrangement for morris From: GUEST,alex Date: 01 Aug 02 - 02:45 PM thanks people, I forgot to mention that we perform a dance totally different to the nutters and have offered money so I can`t understand the reluctance. I will try Keith some time in the future. thanks Alex |
Subject: RE: brass band arrangement for morris From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 01 Aug 02 - 03:19 PM Most of the coco-nut teams are very protective of their traditions and don't really like other people messing with them; if I remember correctly, Brass Monkey's arrangement on Going and Staying of the Bacup tunes didn't go down too well in some quarters. Perhaps, too, Stackstead just don't want anyone else using their arrangement. That's understandable, I guess. Isn't there someone in your local band who could arrange the tunes? |
