A phenomenon observed this weekend at Towersey, which we christened 'St Cecilias' Law':~

A session will only play the tunes you know if you don't have your instrument with you,

with the extensions:~

a) if you do have your instrument with you, they will only play the tunes you know when you are at the bar.

and b) If you do have your instrument with you and want them to play a particular tune you wish to learn, they will play that set whilst you are in the loo and unable to hear.

Any others you've observed???

The song you've been planning to sing, and practicing like crazy for th last 2 weeks will be sung by the person 2 turns in front of you. Furthermore, they will mangle it horribly. This will leave you to fall back on one of the songs that everyone has heard about forty times...

Cheers

Steven

If you are particularly fond of playing a tune on banjo, it will be called while you are playing guitar. By the time you get the banjo out of the case and actually start playing the tune there will be one "B" part left to play. The session will then immediately segue into another tune that you don't even know on banjo.

Any fixed pitch instrument will never be in tune with other fixed pitch instruments.
