I remember seeing them live in a pub in Rugby, they were fantastic, my children(the youngest is now 28) still get out their records when they "come home" for celebrations- A proper cup of coffee(with the sand dance performed by all of us) being the favourite.

Cosmotheka - a brilliant act. Here's a link telling more. Al Sealey sadly died in 1999, which means no more Cosmotheka - but the other half of the act, his brother Dave, is still performing.

The records are great. But what I'd really love to get hold of would be a video of a Cosmotheka performance. (I suppose there might be one from the last time they were at Sidmouth in the Arena...)

Rpt last line of Chorus

End.............

Tho far tho good tho they thay, and below is a transcription into a more understandable form

Sammy Simpson used to tearfully confess
He could'nt get a sweetheart
Cos he lisped when he said yes
Till one night at a fancy ball
He met Miss Susie Smith
And soon he whispered
"Will you dance the lancers with me miss"

She said"Most certainly"
Said Sam "You're mocking me"
Said she "I'm not I lisp meself"
So Sam said tenderly

Chorus

Susie Susie be my little sweetheart Susie
You lisp when I lisp
But your lisp is worse than my lisp
Susie Susie I'll pay the seven and six for you
And the parson will whisper
Mister Sammy Simpson lisps
And Mrs Susie Simpson lisps too

She said "This is so sudden
I must think it over please"
But Sammy pleaded
"Sue say yes and set my mind at ease"
She said "I can't say yes cos I can't sound the s"
Said Sam "Well never mind the s as long as you say yes"
"Oh please say yes Miss and seal it with a kiss
And we'll have years and years and years
Of happines and bliss"

Chorus

So far So good (said)

They knelt in church on Sunday
Sue said it hurt her knees
The parson said "Will you take Sam"
And Susie said "Yes please"
The parson whispered say "I will"
And Sue the saucy cat
Said "Yes I'd rather say I will
Cos theres no s in that"
They've not been married long
But now they're going strong
Especially when Sam and seven little lispers sing this song

Chorus

Rpt last line of Chorus

End.........

Now explanations

Mistakes are all my own and I claim them

I could not transcribe the last line of the chorus on the recording and many years ago I wrote to Cosmotheka asking for the words. A few days later the last line came through with a very kind note. The death of one of the brothers brought an untimely end to a great duo and it is stll a cause of much regret that I never saw their show. Seven and six was the cost in shillings and pence of a marriage license in todays parlance 38 english pence which is less than a dollar.

I learned this years ago and don't recall having to much trouble getting the words. It always goes well Over the years as I have developed confidence as a performer I teach the chorus to the audience. Word of warning the audiences I play too are waiting for me to make a mistake and its my avowed aim in life to dissappoint them. You may have kinder people in Theattle

If thith ith the "Be My Little Thweetheart, Thuthie" song, I think I have it on a CD of The Poms from Oz. I'll see if I can transcribe it.

Be nice if one of our hotshots with a search engine finds it first, though.
