Many people will be sad to learn of the death of Rip Rippingale on 13th September. Rip was a very well known though complex character, particularly around Hampshire, although originaly from Essex. He had a long association with Broadstairs Folkweek and had contributed to many events there over the years. Working as the resident caller with The Old Trout Band for the last ten or so years, he was also one of the original members of Test Longsword and Basingclog Northwest Morris. Rip had more contacts than it would be posiible to name here. Our condolences go out to his family, especially Janet, Patrick, Shaun, Emma and Jean. Rip,s funeral will take place at Basingstoke Crematorium, North Waltham Hampshire on Monday 23rd September. No flowers by request but a donation will be made to a suitable charity, to be decided

Sorry I'm late, but I had the pleasure of knowing Rip through the old Cob and Pen Folk Club in Sherborne St. John.He was always ready to give it all he had,and was a true folky.I still sing Old Johnny Bugger at various sing-a-rounds.
