Subject: RE: Tune Req: Songs about rivers, streams, etc. From: KathWestra Date: 25 Sep 02 - 03:07 PM Bill Staines' "Bridges" -- perfect for the opening of a bridge. It's the title song of one of his older vinyl recordings; don't know if it's been reissued on CD. Good song! |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Songs about rivers, streams, etc. From: Sandy Paton Date: 25 Sep 02 - 10:22 PM Bill Staines' "Bridges" is available on CD. Check the Folk-Legacy web page. www.folklegacy.com. Play "Sandy River Belle" for 'em. Also Bob Dyer's "River of the Big Canoes," Dillon Bustin's "Roustabout Song," Guthrie's "Roll On, Columbia." Bill Staines' "River" makes a nice statement. Familiar with John Allison's "Hudson River Steamboat" or Randolph's "Rivers of Texas" (collected from Irene Carlyle)? You could even give 'em "Ain't No More Cane on the Brazos." Tom Paxton's "Deep Fork River Blues" (as recorded by our own Rick Fielding) is a dandy "sing along." Gawd, there's 100s of 'em! sandy |
