The New York TImes today has promoted the following statement to Quote of the Day status.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"This is not something you retire from. It's your life. Writing songs and playing is like breathing: you don't stop."

KEITH RICHARDS

So if you were thinking of retiring, guys and dolls -- be advised! :>)

Regards,

A

Funny thing, Amos.

I retired from performing in 1976 and now I'm looking toward retiring from business and thinking about going back to doing a little gigging, as I have never retired from playing...

Go For it, Bobert!:

It takes maturity to realize that performing is all in the sharing, not just in being the center of attention. Once you can get beyond yourself, then you can really enjoy the music, and the friendships.

Jerry

I asked people at our last jam--

"Do you know you are a musician-- like a fish is a fish and a dog is a dog? Do you KNOW? You are a MUSICIAN...? AND... do you live any part of your life accordingly (yet)?"

BIG eyes looking back at me, minds ajar.

~Susan

A local radio station plays a game called "What Did Keith Say?", they play a sound bite from a past Keith Richards interview and the first listener who calls in with the correct translation wins.

I heard a good old quote yesterday, "My Wife is Married!"

HEre's a nother thought for another day.

LIFE

To do the useful thing,
to say the courageous thing,
that is enough for one man's life.
T.S. Eliot

Nice one Amos... Here's a personal fav of mine. "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." -- William Arthur Ward

I was doing a survey on a badly damaged ferrocement sloop the other day. The yard owner commented to me that "All this boat needs is a new hull." I ended up agreeing with him.

One day,as I sat musing, sad and lonely and without a friend,a voice came to me out of the gloom, saying 'Cheer up,things could be worse.'So I cheered up,and sure enough things got worse. That's my favourite thought for the day.
