Subject: Tech: guitar repair From: GUEST,Foe Date: 07 Oct 02 - 08:40 AM I just acquired on long term loan a Stella tenor guitar. The bridge is lifting a little and the neck is separating a little from the body. As the guitar only cost @$35 many years ago and I don't want to spend a lot of $$$, I think I can figure out a clamp (cramp) for the bridge and glue it back down. Ques: can I just spread the neck space a little, put some Elmer's in there and clamp or does the whole neck need to be taken off? |
Subject: RE: Tech: guitar repair From: RichM Date: 07 Oct 02 - 08:48 AM It probably would not cost as much as you think to have it repaired by a competent luthier. There may be other damage too. Top braces, for instance, may need to be reglued as well. Why don't you get an estimate first, then decide? |
