Subject: Review: Julie Felix From: MairSea Date: 10 Oct 02 - 10:08 AM Just thought I'd like to share this with you. Went to see Julie Felix at the Nonsuch Folk Club Hants UK last Tuesday night. She was absolutely tremendous. Still has that same rich voice and she sang her songs with such passion, it was like being back in the 60's. This was one of her stops on her 'Starry eyed and laughing.. songs of Bob Dylan' tour and when she sang his songs the tingle went down the spine and the conscience was well and truly pricked. I realised then how apathetic some of us have become! Visit www.juliefelix.com for the tour listings. What a night - WOW!! |
Subject: RE: Review: Julie Felix From: breezy Date: 10 Oct 02 - 02:38 PM She was very unapproachable and a boring old fart last time I saw her June 2002, when she spent an hour doing a sound check when it was possible to play acousticly as I had to as I had no chance of a sound check and as an M C she made no effort to get to know who her co artistes were. She's got an over-inflated opinion of herself. She faded long ago, taking but not giving, and she never returned the phone calls. Hope Nonsuch had a financially viable evening and am pleased it was o.k for you, but then some of us have moved on from the 60s |

Subject: RE: Review: Julie Felix From: GUEST,nager Date: 10 Oct 02 - 09:20 PM I saw Julie Felix back in the 60s a few times and while never a great fan found her performances to be quite enjoyable. I remember her especially at the Isle of Wight festival in 1969. Saw her recently, about five years ago, here in New South Wales. She was a delight to speak to after the show and her singing and song choices were excellent. I don't wallow in the 60s any more either and have certainly moved on from that time. However it doesn't hurt to step back there occasionally for a brief visit. In fact I, like many others, throroughly enjoy doing that as much as appreciating the present and looking forward to the future. Paul |
