Now I,ve went and done it. Mentioned bluegrass on a blues and folk music forum. But please don't browbeat me too bad, cause there is a lot of folk music mixed in at this festival.
Oregon State Bluegrass Festival
July 3, 4 & 5 1998
Miller Brothers Ranch 8 miles east of Salem Ore.
Directions ( this is always the hard part) take highway 22 east from Salem to Gaffin rd turn off (OCI), cut back under the highway and this will turn into 62nd ave, turn right on macleay rd, left on Howell Prairie rd, right on Deschutes rd to Edmunson dr. look for signs.
I'll post a schedule here later.
Jim

How much is this festival? Any Details? Anything you could send me would be most helpful. Thankyou so much. Take it easy.

Can someone help me please?
I'm trying to reach someone at the Miller Brothers Ranch. I'm interested in renting the property for an event. Every time I call the only number I can find, 503-399-1130, I get a message saying party can't be reached and to try again later.

Does anyone know of another way to contact folks about renting this location?

Thanks,
Alyssa

alyssa --

this is a guess, but try 503-362-4225. it's the phone number of the macleay country inn, just down the road from the miller brothers ranch. the inn is owned by dan and jerry miller (the miller brothers?), and it co-sponsors a number of events and projects with the ranch. good luck.

Hey, them's my ol' stompin' grounds! Traveled over the mountains through Santiam Pass to the dry side many times using the 22. You'll be turning off before it gets really scenic though. OCI (Oregon Correctional Institute) is at the foot of the climb into the mountains.

If you have the time in the area, visit Silver Falls. You turn off the 22 a bit farther up the road and then follow the signs to Silver Falls Park. Great spot. 20+ falls on a three mile trail- you'll even walk behind one falls. It can get hot up there too but it will be cooler than it is in the Valley proper.

Back on the 22 head on east over the mountains, instead of turning back to Salem. Through Detroit, Mill City and Gates. At Gates is a restaurant that has exotic fowl fenced in a paddock that is attached to the restaurant. You can watch them go about their business up close and personal.

Farther up the mountains is one of my favorite spots- Sisters. (As in Three Sisters, three mountain peaks in the distance) They've turned Sisters back into a vintage town. Nearby is a smaller town (Fort something?) where you can wade across the wet green grass that is the beginning of the Metolious River. The water seeps out from underneath an abrupt rocky hillock.

Thanks for helping me roam around!
