Well, it happened last Saturday night--again! One of the guys in the band said something funny on the spur of the moment, and I forgot the fiddle intro to a Charlie Poole song we've been performing for years, Good-bye Miss Liza Jane. Geez, I hate that when it happens. And to make matters worse, a brand new number in our repertoire, never before performed in public, went off without a hitch. No flubs, no forgetting the words, darn near perfect.

AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!

My niece asked me to play a Sean O'Riada piece at her wedding. It took some work learning it but by the big day, I could play it in four keys on the same whistle. Got up in the church to play it and couldn't remember how it started. Talk about feeling foolish. My sister in law had to whisper it in my ear, but at least it went down well when I DID play it.
