Altho a lot of the old-time play-party or singing games were done by children, A good leader can get adults to join in and enjoy them too.

One that comes to mind is "Zodiac" that John McCutcheon teaches. A similar one is "Mamalama Cumalama Cumala Pizza" that I've seen led by Chris Kermiet, a dance-caller from Denver. Unfortunately, I don't know where to find these.

I would *REALLY* like to encourage you to approach this project in a way other than the traditional, stereotypically heterosexist approach: boys and girls. (getting "the two sides" to mix.) There are many people who attend weddings who do not view the world that way. There are other people who attend weddings without an opposite gender partner. Unfortunately, I can't offer many suggestions. I would just find a caller and have a contradance/barn dance with couples comprised of whomever wants to dance. I hope you and your guests have a fun time!

Depends how much you want people to mix. There's.....

(All of these are more fun if the line is boy, girl etc.... still it depends on your point of view......)

Passing the matchbox from nose to nose. Passing an orange under the chin, (no hands allowed.)

Stand 2 people facing away from each other with a balloon between their backs. One has to manoeveur themselves so as they can work the ballon down one side of the partners body through their legs and up the front, ending with the balloon between their chests.

and of course that leads on to the ......

Passing a banana/egg up one leg of the man's trousers and having to get it all the way round and down the other leg to finish.

It all takes me back to the parties our guide troup used to have with the local scouts....

You might try "pin the tail on the donkey"---and then retire to your hotel room and invent some of your own VERY TRADITIONAL FOLK GAMES. Directions for those aren't necessary as they're transmitted in our genes. (But remove jeans first.) :-)

Now and again I play at weddings (always Irish), so what I'm looking for are some wedding games.

For example, you'd get all the men at the wedding into the centre of the room. They would then form a circle, join hands and face outwards. The women would then form a circle around them, join hands and face inwards. When the music starts men dance, skip or walk clockwise and the women do the same anti-clockwise. The music would then stop abruplty and you would have to have the next dance with whoever was facing you.

It's a great way for the two sides to mix!

Anybody know any others?
