Subject: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 25 Oct 02 - 08:11 PM I've tried to think this through, but my brain is still pretty fried. I'd like to send out one order at the end Next Week--- Say November 1st. Each tape will be transferred to PC CD-ROM—this will play back the video on your PC and allow you to edit, make playlists, e-mail, and take out still photos. I am not pre editing so you will get some trash footage, but the summaries should help folks decide what they want. I need to do this all at once, because the first copy is rather expensive, but the duplicates ordered at the same time become affordable. Cost: $15 per tape (about 2 hours of footage) plus $3 for shipping and handling. If anyone is interested in a DVD version PM me, but aside from the concert tape, it's field recordings. System requirements: will work with most CD-ROM and DVD ROM drives. It will NOT work in a stand alone DVD player or audio CD player. Minimum requirements: Pentium 166MHz, Window 98/me/XP, 4x CD-ROM drive, 32 MB Ram, 16 bit color. Recommended Requirements: Pentium 366MHz, Windows 98/ME/XP, 8x CD-ROM drive, 64 MB RAM, 32 bit color If this sounds confusing please go to Yesvideo.com this is where the processing will be done and hopefully it will answer your questions. This took great discipline (of which I am often in short supply) because if I gave in to watch it all, I would have never really left the Getaway. Please wait to post here til I make the next three posts, one for each tape, so folks can clearly see what is in each one. |

Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: SINSULL Date: 25 Oct 02 - 09:01 PM UHOH I have NO recollection of singing "Silver Haired Daddy". Guess I am about to find out if Alcohol really does improve my performance. I want it all too. 3x$15 = $45 plus $ 9 shipping Total $54 Right? |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Jeri Date: 25 Oct 02 - 09:27 PM Jeri on blintzes - that was me passing on what Rick said! and Jeri's goodnight kiss from Mick. Blackmailable? Was it a good one? I actually don't remember. The song you got me doing is Hartland Point. Will PM. Can't afford all of 'em though. |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Janie Date: 25 Oct 02 - 09:49 PM All, please. And thank you so much for taking the time and energy to do all of this. Check made payable to ??? Janie |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 25 Oct 02 - 09:55 PM I'll have to check on UK shipping -- probably be Monday before I can get to the Post Office... It'll come in 3 DVD cases. Jeri, The kiss 'twas very mannerly and has no backmail value at all in my book. As long as no one is using this to do a maturity eval on any of us we're probably okay. . I'm awfully glad I did this. |

Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: CarolC Date: 25 Oct 02 - 11:31 PM We're definitely interested in at least getting tapes #1 and #2 on DVD. One of us will be sending you a PM soon about that. I don't know which pieces I played that you have on tape without the names. The first three I played were Metsakukkia (trad Finnish), Kate Martyn's Waltz (Blair Douglas), and Music of Spey (J. Scott Skinner)... not necessarily in that order. Kate Martyn's is the one I was playing when people came into the cabin toward the end of it. The Last Finnish Waltz is trad Finnish, and is also known as Viimeinen Valssi. |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Bill D Date: 25 Oct 02 - 11:42 PM The "Black, White, Yellow & Green" I sang was a song Roy Harris used to open concerts with, I sort of adopted it during the years Roy's voice was giving him problems....I only forgot one verse at the Getaway! |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: GUEST Date: 25 Oct 02 - 11:58 PM HOLY CRAP that is expensive - more than the video store and you ain't a pro. How much if I send you a tape? |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Bill D Date: 26 Oct 02 - 12:00 AM it ain't a 'tape' ...and it is 5+ hours, and it is US!..*grin* |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Jack the Sailor Date: 26 Oct 02 - 12:03 AM Is it one tape or DVD or three? |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 26 Oct 02 - 01:42 AM Yes video will transfer up to 2 hrs of tape on one cartridge on to disc. I took three 2 hr. cassesttes (give or take a few minutes each). Each "tape" will come in a DVD style box with a photo bookmark sleeve of approximately fifty stills. These appear on the side of the screen to help you manuver through the footage. I'm not taking a markup I'm only facilitating the copies. I don't have the ability to turn HI 8 into VHS and last year I had a set done for Max at $35/ hour of footage. It was much too high to offer copies round. Please check out yesvidieo.com they market the product much better than I. And anyone who saw the footage being taped can cleary testify to my purely amatuer status. |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 26 Oct 02 - 01:17 PM I personally will testify to Tinker's amateur status. I swear on Satuday night she occasionally napped through a song but somehow kept the camera aimed and running. She reported the following morning that later hours were taped as she lay flat on her back in the center of the circle and just rotated with change in performer. Roger in Baltimore |

Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: momnopp Date: 26 Oct 02 - 10:02 PM "tape" 3 - "Couch Potato" is probably Linda Goodman. She sang it at the open sing at my house shortly after she wrote it -- a real hoot. I will have to get #1 & #2 -- this is very cool to have such stuff recorded! Thanks, Kathy, for all your work! momnopp |

Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: karen k Date: 18 Nov 02 - 12:22 AM Tinker, I'm just seeing this thread for the 1st time! How did I miss it. Hope it's not too late. I really want all three even though I wasn't there except for part of the Sardine sing and then I didn't even sing anything. Next year for sure! Thanks for doing this, Tinker. karen |

Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: SINSULL Date: 24 Nov 02 - 05:45 PM Hi tinkle! How many copies are still available? Inquiring minds want to know. Mary |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: dick greenhaus Date: 24 Nov 02 - 07:11 PM Tinker- Shipping at media male rates 7 pounds delivered anywhere in the US is $4.24. I can't believe that all three tapes would be heavier than that. |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: SINSULL Date: 24 Nov 02 - 07:16 PM Maybe they are females???? SINS, running for cover. |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Bill D Date: 24 Nov 02 - 07:23 PM well, if they come out cheaper than that, let me know. (must be shipping and 'handling' huh? *grin*...) |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 24 Nov 02 - 09:19 PM Dick, I have no problems sendng " rebates" once I finally get a settled price. Although the same folks process it, I found out that if it goes thrugh Konicka it's cheaper than if it goes through Kodak. Believe me this get a number and wait for the checks to show is a job I'd rather leave to the pros. I took a guess at who amongst the stragglers would really come through and placed the order yesterday. Luckily my husband just smiled and said give the left overs to Mudcat and FSGW auctions.... Tinker |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Janie Date: 09 Jan 03 - 06:36 PM My copies came in the mail today! What fun to see and hear so many of you again. And what a tool to learn many of the songs people shared. Many, many thanks to Tinker, for all of her hard work and perseverence in first taping, then getting copies, which turned into quite a hassle for her, collecting $$ from all of us, and then mailing them out. You go, Girl! Janie |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 09 Jan 03 - 07:57 PM Well, so far I know Bill, Momnopp and Janie got their sets... It was a bit of a trek beyond my original expectations but definately worth it in the end. The processing folks won't forget me in a hurry. Kathy |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: SINSULL Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:02 PM Mine arrived today. But I can't see them until tomorrow. You know, Kathy, in this day of "Big Brother Is Watching", it is not a good idea to threaten people with a boxcutter. But I bet it's fun! Thank you, lady. You have done a wonderful thing. Mary |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Jeri Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:29 PM I got mine today. Already watched some of the discs. What wonderful memories! |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 09 Jan 03 - 08:40 PM Mary, I only attacked the bait and switch crap copies from an alernate vendor with a box cutter. The good people at the grocery store gave it to me honest.... It was safer than flying pieces of glass when I tried to break 'em... And I did get permission from the developer before I destroyed them all..BG... Okay I was a little PO'd. But it's all done and looks pretty good. I think... |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Bill D Date: 09 Jan 03 - 10:44 PM it sure does look good! I watched one disc of the Mudcat cabin, and as I told Tinker in a PM, if I can't be cloned, this is the next best thing. The only thing is with modern technology, the is still a finite amount of time to do everything, watch everything, talk about it and and RE-watch it before it is time to do it again,. .....still, I'll try! |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: karen k Date: 10 Jan 03 - 03:17 AM Mine came yesterday but I haven't been able to watch it yet. It came just in time though since I'm going to spend the weekend at Folk-Legacy with Sandy and Caroline and I'll being it along so we can all watch it. It'll be fun for them since they missed the Getaway last year. Thanks Kathy for all the time and effort. I can't wait to see it. karen |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 10 Jan 03 - 07:30 AM I'm so glad the timing works Karen. I'll try to post a couuple of my own favorite moments (and where they are) since you may not want to sit through six hours of this over the weekend.... |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: dick greenhaus Date: 10 Jan 03 - 12:36 PM Unsolicited Plug Follows: Just got the Fielding/Westra/Sardine Sing videos. A real blast! For those that aren't familiar with the technology, these are CD-looking disks that play on your computer---no DVD player required. They look good, sound good and have the neat feature that lets you save (or print) any single frame you wish, For those that are into blackmail, you can mix and match frames in Photoshop to produce innaresting composite. For the more rational, they're a lot of fun to listen to (and watch!) Good-o, Tinker! |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Big Mick Date: 10 Jan 03 - 01:00 PM Got mine on my birthday..........it jus don't git no better'n that!! I am currently fixing the soundcard so's I can watch and hear. Thanks, Tinker. You are the best! Mick |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: momnopp Date: 10 Jan 03 - 02:45 PM I was all tickled to get mine in the mail yesterday. Only got to watch Judy Cook serenading Big Mick on one of the discs (that Tinker recommended...) it's hilarious! And the sound is really good. It's such fun to watch and re-live; and of course, some of it I'm seeing for the first time, because I wasn't AT many of the places she taped. I'm a little afraid to watch the one where I'm singing, though... Thanks many millions, Kathy. This is a waaaaayyyyy cool record to have. Peace, JudyO |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: SINSULL Date: 11 Jan 03 - 01:14 PM I have played through some of mine. I had forgotten how much fun we had and what great music. I had also forgotten the cricket who eerily keeps time with Barry finn and throws others off. Is "Rubber Ducky" on there? I haven't found it yet. Great job, Kathy. You deserve a medal! Mary |
Subject: RE: 2002 Getaway Video Footage From: Tinker Date: 11 Jan 03 - 01:25 PM Mary, it's on Fielding/Westra Disc 2 section 16.... I couldn't decide what to tape, Janice or those of you crying ...it's a little jumpy... If you go back to the original posts it puts most if it in order with a few omissions and corrections I hope to make sometime this week. So per earlier note... Does whiskey improve your voice??? |
