2002 Getaway Video Footage

I've tried to think this through, but my brain is still pretty fried. I'd like to send out one order at the end Next Week--- Say November 1st.
Each tape will be transferred to PC CD-ROM—this will play back the video on your PC and allow you to edit, make playlists, e-mail, and take out still photos. I am not pre editing so you will get some trash footage, but the summaries should help folks decide what they want.   I need to do this all at once, because the first copy is rather expensive, but the duplicates ordered at the same time become affordable.

Cost: $15 per tape (about 2 hours of footage) plus $3 for shipping and handling. If anyone is interested in a DVD version PM me, but aside from the concert tape, it's field recordings.

System requirements: will work with most CD-ROM and DVD ROM drives. It will NOT work in a stand alone DVD player or audio CD player.

Minimum requirements: Pentium 166MHz, Window 98/me/XP, 4x CD-ROM drive, 32 MB Ram, 16 bit color.

Recommended Requirements: Pentium 366MHz, Windows 98/ME/XP, 8x CD-ROM drive, 64 MB RAM, 32 bit color

This took great discipline (of which I am often in short supply) because if I gave in to watch it all, I would have never really left the Getaway.

I don't know which pieces I played that you have on tape without the names. The first three I played were Metsakukkia (trad Finnish), Kate Martyn's Waltz (Blair Douglas), and Music of Spey (J. Scott Skinner)... not necessarily in that order. Kate Martyn's is the one I was playing when people came into the cabin toward the end of it. The Last Finnish Waltz is trad Finnish, and is also known as Viimeinen Valssi.

Yes video will transfer up to 2 hrs of tape on one cartridge on to disc. I took three 2 hr. cassesttes (give or take a few minutes each). Each "tape" will come in a DVD style box with a photo bookmark sleeve of approximately fifty stills. These appear on the side of the screen to help you manuver through the footage.

I'm not taking a markup I'm only facilitating the copies. I don't have the ability to turn HI 8 into VHS and last year I had a set done for Max at $35/ hour of footage. It was much too high to offer copies round.   

Please check out yesvidieo.com they market the product much better than I.

And anyone who saw the footage being taped can cleary testify to my purely amatuer status.

I personally will testify to Tinker's amateur status. I swear on Satuday night she occasionally napped through a song but somehow kept the camera aimed and running. She reported the following morning that later hours were taped as she lay flat on her back in the center of the circle and just rotated with change in performer.

"tape" 3 - "Couch Potato" is probably Linda Goodman. She sang it at the open sing at my house shortly after she wrote it -- a real hoot.

Dick, I have no problems sendng " rebates" once I finally get a settled price. Although the same folks process it, I found out that if it goes thrugh Konicka it's cheaper than if it goes through Kodak. Believe me this get a number and wait for the checks to show is a job I'd rather leave to the pros.

I took a guess at who amongst the stragglers would really come through and placed the order yesterday. Luckily my husband just smiled and said give the left overs to Mudcat and FSGW auctions....

Mary, I only attacked the bait and switch crap copies from an alernate vendor with a box cutter. The good people at the grocery store gave it to me honest.... It was safer than flying pieces of glass when I tried to break 'em... And I did get permission from the developer before I destroyed them all..BG... Okay I was a little PO'd.

it sure does look good! I watched one disc of the Mudcat cabin, and as I told Tinker in a PM, if I can't be cloned, this is the next best thing. The only thing is with modern technology, the is still a finite amount of time to do everything, watch everything, talk about it and and RE-watch it before it is time to do it again,. .....still, I'll try!

Mine came yesterday but I haven't been able to watch it yet. It came just in time though since I'm going to spend the weekend at Folk-Legacy with Sandy and Caroline and I'll being it along so we can all watch it. It'll be fun for them since they missed the Getaway last year.

Just got the Fielding/Westra/Sardine Sing videos. A real blast! For those that aren't familiar with the technology, these are CD-looking disks that play on your computer---no DVD player required. They look good, sound good and have the neat feature that lets you save (or print) any single frame you wish, For those that are into blackmail, you can mix and match frames in Photoshop to produce innaresting composite. For the more rational, they're a lot of fun to listen to (and watch!)

I was all tickled to get mine in the mail yesterday. Only got to watch Judy Cook serenading Big Mick on one of the discs (that Tinker recommended...) it's hilarious! And the sound is really good. It's such fun to watch and re-live; and of course, some of it I'm seeing for the first time, because I wasn't AT many of the places she taped.

I'm a little afraid to watch the one where I'm singing, though...

If you go back to the original posts it puts most if it in order with a few omissions and corrections I hope to make sometime this week.
