Joe has rightly pointed out to me that the above tune doesn't work. Of course it won't work because there are spaces between the lines. ABC players follow the convention that a line space denotes a new tune. Simple lesson - don't put line breaks in ABC tunes, and when posting to Mudcat put the br symbol at the end of each line.

Dick Yes, you have full permission to include any song of mine in the Digital Tradition. The only other song of mine to gain wide currency is one called Shift and Spin. I'll try to post it some time.

Susanne, the reason I signed myself out was I found that in a particular thread I was being expected to answer questions about my political and social stance to a level that felt inappropriate, and rather than get shirty I left. The All The Tunes In The World air is an amended version of The South Wind - key difference is that the original has more notes at the end of each line, and in some phrases. The song was written for Jim Daily, who would not stop playing tunes at closing time - when at last he did he would start to 'diddle' the tunes to me, while the publican told me to stop him! The publican could tell that there was no use him trying to talk sense to a fiddle player, but I play guitar so am clearly more sensible. My lyric as given above, except that I wrote and sing 'playtime is done', not 'o'er', which was Janet Russell's amendation in her wonderful recording of the song. By the way, the 'gantry' is the frame behiond the bar where the bottles and glasses hang. Best regards. Ewan

there was a misplaced request for info on this song in the Help forum (possibly placed there when the main page was 'down'?); I've e-mailed the author to give her this information which comes from Ted hastings via IrTrad-L: "The words were written by Glasgow singer/songwriter Ewan McVicar and are published by Gallus Music. The tune is an old Irish air, "The South Wind". [an Ghaoth Aneas] Ewan dedicated the song to fiddler and uillean piper Jim Daily, a former member of the Whistlebinkies. Jim still plays around Glasgow and is involved with the local CCE branch. The song can be found in Ewan's book "One Singer, One Song" published by Glasgow City Libraries, ISBN 0-906169-31-3."
I do hope the title of this specific song, and therefore of the thread, doesn't lead people to request ALL THE [OTHER]TUNES!!!

I can't make out all the words to "All the Tunes in the World". It's a song about playing music at closing time in a pub. Does anyone have to words down that could transmit them. Thanks
