THE OLD FASHIONED BUSTLE MY GRANDMOTHER WORE
As sung by Clinton Ford on "Run to the Door: The Piccadilly/Pye Anthology" (2002)

In pantomime circles Miss Mary McCoy
Was fairly well known as a principal boy.
Whilst doing high kicks 'neath the dazzling lights,
Bang went the back of her lovely silk tights.
They lowered the curtain; the audience laughed.
They could see were poor Mary was feeling the draught.
But I saved the show, for when she gave her encore,
She was wearing the bustle my grandmother wore.

To a fancy dress ball I once had an invite.
They were all sorts of characters dressed up that night.
There were Eskimos, Ikemos(?), and Japanese.
The wife went as a cat-horse(?), for she's young at the knees.
Nobody knew me; I went in disguise,
For I went as Adam and won the first prize,
For all I had on as I danced round the floor
Was the old-fashioned bustle my grandmother wore.

To the North Pole on an expedition we all once went.
To discover the North Pole, that was our intent.
We all got frostbitten from our heads to our toes.
'Neath the bustle was the only place that I never froze.
When we got to the North Pole, we all got a fright.
We had no union jack to show off Britain's might,
So up the North Pole to a great British roar
Went the old-fashioned bustle my grandmother wore—
Went the old-fashioned bustle—
Went the old-fashioned bustle my grandmother wore.
