Hi,
Another song I remember hearing bits to but can't actually place one person singing it or much of the lyrics-what will I do when i've run out of these?

I've tried to look on the digitrad, but no luck:
I thought it was called River Days.

The chorus as I remember it is quite sad and goes:
River days, River days
No there's no more River days.

Does anyone know its title, whether its on digitrad, or anything about the song. Hope someone can help i'd love to have the words- the tune is so clear in my mind- well to the chorus anyway.
Kipling

Here you go, kipling. Ah've mostly not tried to spell everything with a Geordie accent, but ye'll probably hear it with one.
-------------------

RIVER DAYS
Barrie Temple

Now it's all along this river,
Well I've seen your many ways
I've watched the tides that come and go
Bring you sorrow and bring praise
Well, I've heard you laugh and watched you cry
I've seen love light taken from your eye
And tomorrow's tide's gonna pass you by
For there's no more river days

CHORUS:
River days, river days
Now there's no more river day

Now it was a cold November
When I slipped from out your hands
I'd stood there alongside giants
That were bound for foriegn lands
Ah, you cared for me as you cared for them
Three thousand ships, ten thousand men
Will we ever see their likes again
Now there's no more river days

CHORUS

As a tugboat on this river
Well, I'd spend me workin' day
To push and shove, to help and love
Those giants on their way
As they start out on the journey
All along their watery way
Will we ever see them back again
no more river days

CHORUS

Aye, we built your ships for battle
When ye came here cap in hand
And we built ye tankers for the oil
Ye needed from foriegn lands
Ah, we built them better than anyone
For all the world to see
But when it came to helping us
Ah now, what price loyalty

CHORUS x 2

Salt of the Earth are unfortunately no more .... the group split up some time ago but Barrie and Ingrid Temple a are very active duo. Look out for them at a festival near you(UK) next year.
ps if they are not booked - tell the organisers that they should be.

Thanks a lot- once again a song located.

I do live a few miles from St. Albans breezy- Hanoi- Vietnam, about 7 thousand I think!

I will try to get a recording of that soon- probably when i'm back in England. I did'nt know it was written by Barry Temple. I've met Barry and Ingrid a couple of times- and we had em' at my local festival- leading the unaccompanied singaround in what we call- the rotunda.

It's the big round domed building in which is the foyer of our main venue- and they sound fantastic in there.
Thanks again
Kipling
