Subject: Info Req: Meet me in Atlantic City? From: Dani Date: 12 Jun 98 - 02:16 PM A friend has just taught me "In the Good Old Summertime". I didn't know the words, but somehow already knew the tune. Then it came to me last night that it's almost exactly like another tune in my brain, but I can't find it in the DT. Does anyone know: Meet me in Atlantic City meet me at the fair Don't tell me the lights are shining anywhere but there....? That's the only snippet that I can dust off. Help? Dani the ever-grateful |

Meet me in St. Louis, Louis ? |
Subject: RE: Info Req: Meet me in Atlantic City? From: Jon W. Date: 12 Jun 98 - 06:51 PM "Meet me in St. Louis" was a song used in a Hollywood musical of the same name with Judy Garland and the second line "Don't tell me the lights are shining anywhere but there" is in it. Subject: RE: Info Req: Meet me in Atlantic City? From: Earl Date: 13 Jun 98 - 12:30 AM There was a song from the same period with a similar tune that began "On the boardwalk in Atlantic City." Don't remember the rest. |
Subject: RE: Info Req: Meet me in Atlantic City? From: Philip Hudson Date: 13 Jun 98 - 01:41 AM Dani, Jon W identified the song as "Meet Me in St. Louis" but it is not sung to the tune of "In the Good Old Summertime" that I know. I hope you can get the tune and the words together. The movie was about the Worlds Fair and had "Clang clang clang went the trolly, Ding ding ding went the bell, Sing sing sing went my heart string etc." and a lot more songs. - Philip Hudson
