Subject: West Gallery Carols in Christmas Fair From: Folkie Date: 22 Nov 02 - 08:20 AM Anyone visiting Worcester's Christmas Fair on Saturday 30th November should come and listen to Vital Spark singing West Gallery Christmas Carols in the marquee on the corner of Angel Place/Broad Street. There will be two half hour spots at 1.30 p.m. and 3.15 p.m. |

One of the best known tunes that was originally a West Gallery carol is "Ilkley Moor B'aht 'at" which was written by Thomas Clark of Canterbury, and used for "While Shepherds Watched". You can find a MIDI of the original 4-part setting HERE. |
