I just visited Mudcat's Digitrad For Kids. Great site! But, as I was scrolling down those songs for kids, I came across "Bang Bang Lulu?" Er, not the best choice for kids under 14. Maybe I'm way off base here thinking we should shield kids under 14 (or any age) from this kind of stuff, but why give them information and lude entertainment before it is time?

PS. I love lude entertainment. Don't get me wrong!

I'm trying to put an age on when I learnt this song ( or a varient) through oral tradition on the playground. I'm pretty sure it was 9 or 10. I remember being facinated with the word play... you didn't actually say those forbidden words and that was all the fun.

My kids all learnt it traditionally ( on the playground) but out grew it before the lewd meaning had any context.

I would take the explanatory note out of the kid site... definately more information than needed. I can't imagine many parents want to answer the question what's a gang bang when asked by a 9 year old...

I'm just rambling out... I've got to think on this a little more.

Tinker

So far what you have rambled out seems on the mark.

That's what I was thinking, too, Tinker. That explanatory just goes a bit far for kids, imo.
