WAMU-FM in the Washington, DC area is going to broadcast this year's NEA Heritage Awards Concert tonight, Friday, November 29, from 8-10 PM EST. I don't know for sure if it will be available on their streaming audio, but 'Catters should check it out to hear some great music by some great traditional musicians (including our kytrad)! Go to their website, http://wamu.org/ and click "Listen Live".

It's a little confusing because they don't show this in today's line-up, instead it shows the Kojo Nnamdi show at 8pm. A search does show it though, here (scroll down.)

Thanks, again, lamarca,:-)

Based on my recollection of the concert, if this is only a 2 hour program, they've done a fair bit of editing. Should still be a great show, though.

Fretless, they've probably edited out the interviews with the craftspeople, since their artworks don't translate to radio very well....:>}

I missed the first thirty minutes. Has Jean already been on? I came in when the Ojibway were on from North Dakota and the Sephardic singer is on, now. Thanks!

Did anyone catch this program? No one informed any of the awardees that it was scheduled for Friday. Some nerve!    Jean

Kytrad,

The folks at NEA say that the program was produced by WDUQ in Pittsburgh (www.wduq.org). I couldn't find it archived on that station's Web site, or on WAMU's. NEA should get a copy eventually, but they don't have one yet.

I couldn't find any archives of the show, either. I did hear all of it, except that first bit and it was wonderful! Jean, you and your son sounded fantastic. I loved the songs you did, esp. In the cool of the morning. What a thrill and honour to be able to say to my family, "Listen! That's our Jean, she's a Mudcatter and a friend! Even gave me dulcimer advice!"

The whole show was really lovely. Thanks, again, lamarca, for bringing it to our attention.

kat
