Subject: Folk Music of Mexico From: GUEST Date: 02 Dec 02 - 08:45 PM After seeing the movie "Frida" I was haunted by the soundtrack of the film. I know Mexican culture has contributed a lot to (US)American culture. Can anyone lead me to sources of infromation to learn about the folk music of Mexico. Print, electronic, and recorded music media sources are all desired. Anyone here able to help? Ol' Bill |

Subject: RE: Folk Music of Mexico From: Nerd Date: 25 Oct 04 - 09:19 PM Arhoolie Records has recorded a good bit of Mexican and Mexican-American music. They had a big box set on songs of the Mexican Revolution and another on "Corridos y Tragedias de la Frontera." There is a companion CD to Narcocorridos that is nice in that it encompasses several styles: Bandas, Conjuntos, mariachis, etc. |
