Subject: DC Area Mudcatters - New CD Launch From: Maryrrf Date: 07 Dec 02 - 09:38 AM My new CD "Of Rogues and Lovers" will make it's public debut at my gig at Pat Troy's Ireland's Own in Old Town Alexandria on December 15th. I managed to recruit some great instrumental talent to help me out on this - I love the songs I picked and, well let's just say it's been a long and sometimes tedious (but always fun!) project and I'm proud of the result. If any Mucatters make it please tell me who you are and don't just stuff a note in my tip jar saying "A mudcatter was here..." and leave me wondering! |

It's an annual tradition and we wouldn't miss it for the world, but still -- Would have loved to be at your CD Come-Out Party too. Good luck and I hope it's a blast, Rita F |

Subject: RE: DC Area Mudcatters - New CD Launch From: Celtic Soul Date: 07 Dec 02 - 01:37 PM Times???? Would love to make it, but if it starts late, we won't be able to. Got a school age kid to put to bed. If it's early enough, my whole brood would *love* to make it out! |
Subject: RE: DC Area Mudcatters - New CD Launch From: Maryrrf Date: 07 Dec 02 - 02:57 PM I start at around 7:00 pm and am around till 11:00 or 11:30. I'd love to see some 'catters. Sunday isn't a good night for most people but it's nice at Pat Troy's because it's usually very mellow. Will you sing a few Sea Chanteys for us, CS, if you come? |
Subject: RE: DC Area Mudcatters - New CD Launch From: katlaughing Date: 07 Dec 02 - 03:58 PM How about some particulars about your CD for those of us who don't live nearby, but might want to order one later on? Songs on it? How much? Where to send the green stuff?:-) Thanks and congratulations! kat |
Subject: RE: DC Area Mudcatters - New CD Launch From: Maryrrf Date: 09 Dec 02 - 10:30 AM OK I'll brag a little bit! I've wanted to do this for a long time and things finally came together. My son, who was raised on traditional music since he was an infant but later became a heavy metal guitarist, did the guitar tracks (don't worry this isn't a metal album!). We recorded the vocals and guitar here in the States, then I took that over to Ireland where three friends - Chris Caldwell, Brendan Monahan and Stevie Mulholland (members of the trad group Killultagh) added whistle, mandolin, bodhran and fiddle. In both cases we didn't have much time in the studio but thankfully the result came out very nice - even though it was recorded in different locations it has a very "live" feel to it! Here's the list of tracks: Glenlogie (Bonnie Jean O'Bethelnie) The Golden Vanity As I Roved Out If I Were a Blackbird The Newry Highwayman The Snows They Melt the Soonest The Humours of the King of Ballyhooley Crazy Kate (The Elf King's Reel) Swan Song The Four Marys Mattie Groves Crazy Kate and Swan Song were written by a friend, and the rest are traditional. If anybody wants to order a copy just pm me for now, cost is $15.00 and I'll throw in postage. I'm working on getting the information on my website and hopefully sound clips. I'll probably sell it on line at Cantaria eventually. It sure was a lot of work and there were times I though things would never pan out, but I'm so happy with the result!!!! |
