Subject: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Tweed Date: 07 Dec 02 - 10:48 AM I got some packages in the mail recently from a couple of the Mudcat brethren and they both claim to being lousy singers, terrible guitar pickers and guilty of makin' bad recordings but these are nothin' but lies, lies, and more lies! Here's a couple samples of what these two bigass liars sent me....It's unbelievable....I thought I could trust these two above all others...... Jerry Rasmussen's "Davenport Blues" (mp3) Khandu's "A Guitar Man Named Chet(mp3) Thanks a lot fellas, I'm just gonna go burn a couple guitars now.... Yerz, Tweed |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Amos Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:00 AM Jerry that is mighty fine picking, mighty fine singing and I'm doin' some mighty fone grinning listening to ya!! Thanks Tweed man!! Khandu already KNOWS what I think of him!! A |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Tweed Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:18 AM Them two are somethin' ain't they? Bad recordings my eye! Boy, that nitrocellulose on the old J-45 shore ignites fast! |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: songs2play Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:25 AM Tweed, keep that fire burning, I got 2 more guitars for burning. Jerry, my friend, you are indeed in the same mold as the very Reverend Mr Davis. - God Bless. Khandu, I can here all the Catters screaming "We're not worthy" Two very fine examples of gooood music. We'll talk soon in mudchat Jerry. |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Áine Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:29 AM Hey Tweed, I completely agree with your assessment of Jerry and Ken's assessment of their own talents!! these are nothin' but lies, lies, and more lies! -- And they have both also been known to prevaricate on their song writing capabilities!! ;-) Like most things in life, there's an old Irish proverb that fits their exagerations of 'lack of talent' -- 'It's the heaviest ear of grain that bends its head the lowest'. All the best, Áine |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Tweed Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:29 AM Come on over Songs2, when we get rid of the wooden ones, I got a oxy-acetylene rig out in the shed, and can start carving on the Resonators ;~) 'Course we could fill em up with concrete mix and use 'em fer boat anchors I reckon... |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: katlaughing Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:40 AM Wow-o-Wow! Both of 'em! Thanks, Tweed, this are really great! Well-done, Jerry and Khandu. kat |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Genie Date: 07 Dec 02 - 12:27 PM Oh, no! Tweed's gonna take up rock music!! Heavy metal, in fact!! Jerry and Khandu -- "terrible guitar pickers?" Compared to whom? Chet? (That's a pretty lofty standard of "not terrible," now, isn't it?) We should all sing so lousy and pick so terribly and write such awful songs!! :-D Genie |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Tinker Date: 07 Dec 02 - 01:03 PM Tweed !! Everytime I click on one of your links I get acess forbidden. It's the only site it's ever happened on, suggestions???? Kathy |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Tweed Date: 07 Dec 02 - 01:43 PM Hmm...try going to the "properties" of the link and then copy and paste the URL in your browser window. First time anyone's said they couldn't get to Tweedland, and too bad if you can't as you really need to hear these lyin' guitar pickers Kathy. I'm exposin' 'em for what they really are today ;~) PM me and tell me what's happening. Yerz, Tweed |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Morticia Date: 07 Dec 02 - 01:59 PM wow, what a gift, thanks guys and thanks Tweed for being brave enough to expose these terrible frauds :) |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Tweed Date: 07 Dec 02 - 02:21 PM Think of it as a service Morty, somebody had to do it. I find it astonishin' that Hiz Royal Highness, the self proclaimed KingKhandu of Mississippi and Deacon Jerry, a member of the well respected Gospel Messengers Quartet should sully thar own reputations wif these....uh...precarivashuns (do I got that word right Aine?) Truly a shame thet they'd try and stoop to my level. It's all downhill fer them boys now I fear. |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: MairSea Date: 07 Dec 02 - 02:39 PM If they class themselves as 'lousy' then I have no hope at all! My guitar is going on the bonfire (which it should anyway) and I am going to rip out my voice box!!! Let's hear some from the other 'catters out there eh? Please? |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Mark Clark Date: 07 Dec 02 - 02:46 PM Yeah … Sounds like they can just barely play. <g> Great job Jerry and Khandu and thanks, Tweed, for linking them here. - Mark |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Chip2447 Date: 07 Dec 02 - 02:54 PM Prostraing himself before the geetar bonfire. I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy...only adding geetars to the bonfire in spirt, couldnt do that to Katie and Quiet Molly. I cant make em sing like that but they're still my friends... Chip2447(green with envy) |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: songs2play Date: 07 Dec 02 - 02:57 PM Ah Tweed, I just realised the joke, it's not Jerry and Khandu at all It's some imposters. You realise , of course, if this really was Jerry and Khandu, that you've linked to, all the Mudcatters out there would give up playing guitar and commit hari kari (if that's how it's spelt) Do you really want all that blood on your hands ? Come on Tweed You owe it to all us fingerpicking sons of ......... {{{{{songs}}}}}} |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Tweed Date: 07 Dec 02 - 03:08 PM Hell, Chip go ahead and throw 'em in. My tele's in there blazing away right now....that maple neck oughta keep the coffee pot warm for a while.....Hold on..there's the door.... Hmmm....If someone had a pot and a little water we could boil this stone I just bought off a raggedy dude. He says it'll make good soup...mebbe some cabbage and a bit o' salt to go in there...Must be a good stone, fer what he charged fer it... |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 07 Dec 02 - 07:19 PM Sheesh!!!! I spend the day in St Albans (Queens, New York City, U.S.of A) and look what The Tweedster has been up to. I thought he looked a little shifty. Honest fellas, it's just fingers picking on strings.. I've always held the firm belief that if I can do something, it's no big deal. By definition. It's what I can't do (and Ken Khandu) that impresses me. Hey, Bobert... got any extra duct tape kickin' around? Jerry |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Banjer Date: 07 Dec 02 - 08:52 PM Sounding Gooooooooooooddd!!! |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: khandu Date: 07 Dec 02 - 10:43 PM Okay okay okay!!! I'll admit it! I lied!! Now, under great duress and peer pressure, I will tell the truth! Jerry Rasmussen is a very very good musician and an excellent singer. His music has impressed me many times. I am aghast at his song-writing ability. I envy him. I lied only because I was jealous. I promise to be good and do better next time! khandu (Truthful King of Mississippi) |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:07 PM Hey, if you all want to hear some fine picking and singing, be sure you order at least a couple of the Mudcat CDs. As for lies... Khandu really is King but I ain't no Deacon. I Shot the sherrif, too. But I didn't shoot no deputy. (Khandu really is a fine songwriter and singer... and let the truth be know now... our friend(I thought) Tweed is a fine picker and singer, too. Somewhat abashed, Jerry |
Subject: RE: A Couple of Mudcat Pickers From: Miken Date: 07 Dec 02 - 11:23 PM Enjoyed the songs, Jerry and Khandu, big time! Had to jump up and unpack the guitar (just moved today) and start learnin. I'm impressed! |
