Subject: lost tipper appeal From: WhiteDove Date: 15 Dec 02 - 11:04 AM I lost my tipper I don't know where Has anyone seen it? Does anyone care? Seriously...if that is at all possible :-) It probably went the same way as the numerous capo's I once owned. It was last seen in the Ship Victory in Chester. As it happened I did have name and my tel no.taped to it! Just in case...!! I know tippers are ten a penny but this one was a gudun!!! Actually quite unique I think. Made of dark wood, sausage shaped at each end and weighted with bits of somethin gold in colour.Well you never know!!! It was worth a lot to meeeee! Maybe someone knows a good tipper maker who makes 'em like this. |
Subject: RE: lost tipper From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 15 Dec 02 - 11:39 AM Hope it turns up. I understand how you bodhrani are about those tippers. I think my wife would rather lose her bodhran than her tipper. It's not much, just something I whittled from an old rake handle years ago. But she's tried dozens of them over the years and keeps coming back to the old thing. Bruce |

Subject: RE: lost tipper From: John MacKenzie Date: 15 Dec 02 - 01:07 PM Old rake; how dare you sir! I resemble that remark. My brother Billy had four foot willie, And he showed to the girl next door. She thought it was a snake, so she hit it with a rake. So now it's only two foot four. ¦¬]> Giok |
Subject: RE: lost tipper From: Dead Horse Date: 15 Dec 02 - 01:42 PM Trust a Scotsman to come up with the smut. It must be the porridge! Tippers & bodhrans? I never heard of anyone being tipped to PLAY a bodhran! |
Subject: RE: lost tipper From: John MacKenzie Date: 15 Dec 02 - 02:04 PM I thought that I'd bring things down to a Kentish [Yes Kentish!] level. After all my significant other is from Herne Bay. ¦¬]..Giok |

Subject: RE: lost tipper From: Tig Date: 15 Dec 02 - 04:13 PM Know what you feel like. I lost my tipper at Festval at the Edge. It was the first one I had been happy with since my very original ( now some 27 years old and made out of broom handle) and I was very upset. Let's hope it turns up in someone else's bag and they return it! |
Subject: RE: lost tipper From: Cluin Date: 15 Dec 02 - 04:18 PM Well, seriously, you can make another one. They're not that hard. I've made several (without a lathe). Experiment with different lengths, shapes, materials. When you get one you like, make another half-dozen like it. Sorry if you lost an heirloom though... |
Subject: RE: lost tipper From: toribw Date: 15 Dec 02 - 04:48 PM I hope you find it soon, WhiteDove. The tipper I use day in and day out is perfect for me. I'd be quite upset if I lost it. There isn't another one in my bag that I like as much. |
