McGrath of Harlow pointed out the fact that these bands break-up with such acrimony. What kind of personnel problems do you foresee?

You might find that getting everyone together for regular rehearsals is a problem.
Also artistic differences could be an issue. Always make sure the Right hand knows what the Left's doing!
Many bands have split up because of outside interference from girlfriends or wives. It's important that wives and girlfriends can get along together, a difficult enough feat in any band, made even more tricky in a one-man band!

We, the members of the multiple personality society are taking keen interest in this discussion, and will make a mission statement following the next general meeting to put forward our committees latest appraisal. Well, if your one-man band is having problems, you should get together and have a heart-to-nose talk, probably. Multiple personalities are an asset as long as you have good management skills!!

What about when some members of the 1MB volunteer your services for what they think is a worthy cause without consulting the others. Leads to a lot of resentment.

I split up from my one man band, as I was the one who was always expected to drive, while the others got pissed.
(AND I had to carry all the gear)

We've got this one dude who just won't behave. He's eating the band leader's food, sleeping with the band leader's wife and hogging the spotlight on stage. As band leader it's my job to fire him but who'll cover the next gig.

The harmonica player is always on the wrong key. Banjo player cheap and never replaces his strings. Bass drum is usually off the beat. ( Also the castenet player is a rather disagreeable chap who snacks on raw garlic cloves , which annoys the accordionist no end .) As you can see, it's impossible to find
a mediator in the group to resolve these long simmering resentments.
It' s been going on for 18 years and they 're still fighting amongst
themselves .

Jesse Fuller was interviewed in an old "folk" magazine. He said that he used to play with other musicians but got fed up.
"Since I've started this one man band, not one member has shown up late or drunk."

Years ago I read a book called "Your Inner Child of the Past." The author traced adult behaviors to treatment in childhood, and the only one I can remember is that the child who is constantly supervised and nagged (Put on your shoes! Brush your teeth! Comb your hair! Where is your bookbag?) grows up to be a procrastinator.

So a one-man band could have personnel problems if one is the adult and the other person is his inner child.

I think of the inner child when the Time Team show has a visiting expert who lowers her head and mumbles inaudible remarks about a find. In her I see a child who was constantly told to be quiet and never be conspicuous. (Not all such experts are female.) Meanwhile, the DH and I as viewers are wondering why the director of the show puts up with this behavior.
