Subject: BS: scotch eggs: recipes From: GUEST,paddymac Date: 03 Jan 03 - 07:32 PM Well, the traditional post-holidays shrunken belt syndrome has come home to roost and I've decided to do the "Atkins thing" for a few weeks. It occurred to me that scotch eggs might be a good low-carb dietary item. I've been looking for a reasonably easy recipe for them, and was amazed that the vast repository of folk knowledge called mudcat has but a single recipe for the things, that one from USENET and blamed on Violet Syrotiuk, posted (if I remember correctly) by George Seto. I pledge to try it tomorrow, but couldn't help wondering whether there might be catters out there with other delightful recipes for these delicious (well, usually) oddities. I'll have to brush off my recipe for that delightful middle-eastern treat called a "kibby." Any other ideas out there for rfelatively low-carb, portable foods? |

Subject: RE: BS: scotch eggs: recipes From: Ireland Date: 03 Jan 03 - 08:24 PM Hard boil the egg, roll out sausage meat on floured surface, about 1/4" thick. Cover the egg with the meat, roll in beaten egg and then coat with bread crumbs. Deep fat fry, or cook in the oven on a rack over a tray for a lower fat (not much) version. I mean roll the wrapped egg in the beaten egg. |
