Hey folks, who has any interesting traditions or rituals they follow where music is concerned?

My own example, a tradition picked up from a friend, I always close out a celtic mix tape with a copy of "The parting Glass".. and I'm starting to form my own custom of opening the mix with "Banish Misfortune"...

G'day Martin Pearson,

Perhaps you would need a new tradition of STARTING sessions with an opening glass ... of something warming, now you have moved to Sandy Bay, at the cool heel of Mount Wellington (Hobart, Tasmania).

I remember it as fairly brisk at this time of year when I lived in Hobart (1960s). How is the folk music scene there these days?

We have an "official citation" printed up for session members which says in part,

infractions...
failure to play an O'Carolan tune/air
having more than one dobro player at a time
failure to play in another key than Em/D
playing out of tune (before 9pm)
playing in tune (after 9pm)
not buying the next round or pint
quitting too early
