Subject: The Maybe Song From: mcneeley@icx.net Date: 07 Jul 98 - 09:55 AM Anyone ever heard of the maybe song? "maybe once, maybe twice, maybe fire maybe ice" and "maybe you maybe me, maybe it may never be" Don't know where I learned it but used to sing it about 25 years ago. Probably a song on someone's album but might have learned it from someone. Please help. |
Subject: RE: The Maybe Song From: Roger Himler Date: 08 Jul 98 - 12:44 AM From the singing of Ernie Sheldon and Joyce James Sure is today, with a kiss on the way, Will there be more kisses tomorrow. And many more kisses the day after that. More kisses to lend or borrow. Or will we be kissing in vain? Maybe you and maybe me, Maybe only yet to be, Maybe yes and maybe no, Maybe this alone to know. Maybe thunder, maybe rain, Maybe wonder, maybe pain. Maybe once, maybe twice, Maybe fire, maybe ice, Maybe laughter, maybe tears, Maybe moments, maybe years. Time after time, without reason or rhyme, My thoughts wing away with the swallow. And then I start dreaming of you and of me, And all of the days to follow. Now will they bring pleasure or pain. I am missing some of the words for the middle. Perhaps this is enough to stimulate some more response. Sheldon and James sing the verses in counterpoint, that is, two different verses at the same time. It is an old favorite of mine. If no one posts, I will search for the album for the complete words. Subject: RE: The Maybe Song From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Jul 98 - 08:19 PM Hmmmm. I was wondering about something, Roger. Lately, I've seen a proliferation of new "lyrics add" threads, when there's already a discussion of a song going on in another thread and sometimes when the lyrics have already been posted as part of that discussion. It tends to separate the discussion from the lyrics, and I think that the presence of lyrics (or a link to the lyrics) in a thread tends to stimulate discussion. I kinda think it's good to keep the lyrics and the entire discussion of a song in one single thread. I know the establishment of a "Lyrics Add" thread is an attempt to make things easier for Dick Greenhaus so he'll be able to add the lyrics to the database, but he's a smart young feller, and I think he's likely to find the lyrics just fine as long as they're posted in a thread that is titled with the name of a song. I find all these extra threads confusing. Say, Dick, you got an opinion on this? -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: The Maybe Song From: Roger Himler Date: 12 Jul 98 - 10:12 PM Thanks Joe, I'm still new to all of this (after three or four months) and it helps to be steered on the etiquette, etc. I'll look forward to Dick's opinion. Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: The Maybe Song From: dick greenhaus Date: 12 Jul 98 - 10:39 PM It don't make me no never-mind. I have a problem with folks that enter a song that's already in the DT, because it means that I have to check it agains what we have to see if it's a significant variant. I also have a problem with lyrics that AREN'T described in the thread title--it's too easy to miss them. |
Subject: RE: The Maybe Song From: rich r Date: 18 Jul 98 - 04:00 PM I think Joe's point is a good 'un. I just added a bit of trivia to the Lyrics Add link, before I noticed the discussion link. And now by doing this I've jumped both of them up to the top together so someone else will have a chance to rejpeat my blunder.. Maybe there should be a "merge" function somewhere to tidy things up. The problem is it would probably fall in the category of more things for Dick et al. to do and they don't need more things to do. rich r |
