Subject: Tech: Real Audio to wav/MP3? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 25 Jan 03 - 10:37 AM Hi All. I am wanting to convert some Real Audio files (such as the Honking Duck files)to Wav or to MP3. The software we have will play real audio, but not convert it to another format. Last Summer somewhere within a thread about recording music on a computer, somebody mentioned a programme which hijacks the signal going to the PC sound card and will then record it to a different file. I have tried searching, but cannot find the thread. Can anybody recall the conversation? Does anybody know what programme fits the description? It wasn't a freebie, but wasn't expensive. Thanks in advance, Geoff. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Real Audio to wav/MP3? From: GUEST,MCP Date: 25 Jan 03 - 01:02 PM There's a plugin for Winamp that does this. innover's RealAudio input plugin will play the stuff (Should be here)and you can use nullsoft's disk writer output plugin to output to disk. And you're right - I'm sure there was a thread on this, but I haven't time to look just now. Mick |

Subject: RE: Tech: Real Audio to wav/MP3? From: IvanB Date: 25 Jan 03 - 09:39 PM Although I like Total Recorder, here's one that's free and it'll convert to and from many audio formats, by the use of add-on codecs: dBPowerAmp One caveat, though - the conversion takes the same length of time as the sound file would to play. An advantage of Total Recorder is that, when recording in 'software' mode, you can set it for accelerated recording, in which case it'll record as fast as it can read the audio file (this is true for streaming internet files too). I've found that the average ratio is a 4:1 speedup. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Real Audio to wav/MP3? From: Geoff the Duck Date: 26 Jan 03 - 07:46 AM Many thanks to all of you. I'll be checking out the different suggestions when time allows. The thread I couldn't find mentioned Total Recorder, which was what I recalled. I have now tracked down that thread Blicky Here! It contains suggestions for other conversion programmes and between various different audio formats. A useful thread to bookmark. Once again Thanks. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |
