Subject: BS: I seem to remember From: GUEST,Davetnova Date: 29 Jan 03 - 04:51 AM I seem to remember afew years ago, there was a fairly senior military officer froma major world power who was involved in selling arms and other weapons of mass destruction to some small middle eastern country in order to raise money to finance some terrorist group in some small south american country. Is my memory faulty? Is this just some urban myth. It surely couldn't be some of the countries involved in the current international crisis, could it? |
Subject: RE: BS: I seem to remember From: nutty Date: 29 Jan 03 - 05:14 AM I seem to remember that the name was Ol*v*r N*r*h or something like that ...... . I think he might have been American and if the internet is to be believed he was a national heroe (far more site seem to be pro rather than anti) Interesting comments here though (particularly in light of Bush's present stance) CLICK |

Subject: RE: BS: I seem to remember From: artbrooks Date: 29 Jan 03 - 07:19 AM If my memory serves, the person in question was a junior field grade officer...a lieutenant colonel. This is the rank that normally supervises the senior sergeant who empties trash cans in the Pentagon. This rank would be considered much more senior away from the Puzzle Palace. |
Subject: RE: BS: I seem to remember From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Jan 03 - 07:28 AM Hellfire Guys, I seem to remember that some Superpower was involved in backing some middle eastern evil dictator in some war or another against some other middle eastern religious dictator who had done us dirty. As I recall we were all for our guy to be as mean and nasty and evil as he could with as many mean and nasty and evil weapons as he could get. I think we may have originally supplied a lot of them. Was that real or did I dream it? Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: I seem to remember From: GUEST,Crazy Eddie Date: 29 Jan 03 - 09:39 AM I think the usual quote is "We're not supporting him because he is a son of a bitch. We're supporting him because he's our son of a bitch" |
Subject: RE: BS: I seem to remember From: Amos Date: 29 Jan 03 - 10:48 AM North was a factotum for more elevated government types like the then director of the CIA, who thought it was really important to fight communism by encouraging the Nicaraguan Contras with arms and training. He pursued this agenda in complete despite of the standards and laws provided by Congress at the time. Not to mention Ronnie and his silent buit deadly sidekick George Bush the First. A |
Subject: RE: BS: I seem to remember From: GUEST,Taliesn Date: 29 Jan 03 - 11:06 AM I also seem to recall one international arms dealer , Adnan Koshoeggi ( spelling-memory might need tweeking ) not only surfacing during the Iran-Contra hearings, but again in 1991-92 during the revelations and subsequent hearings of the "outing" of BCCI ( Bank of Commerce & Credit International ); the Arab-funded enterprise whose clesar agenda was to become the Pan-Arabian Citibank. Problem was they were discovered because of the heavy rollodex of international arms dealers ,drug cartels, and terrorists whose money they laundered and transferred hopefully out of sight of western eyes. Well ol' Adnan was quite the "deal broker" for the Reagan admins' spooks with the head-spook, William Casey ,whisked off to hospital for brain cancer then dying in hospital just before he was scheduled to give testimony to the Iran-Contra Hearings panel. Somehow the monent I read the news about his going into hospital the weekned befoire the Monday he was supposed to make an appearance ,that he was never coming out again. |
Subject: RE: BS: I seem to remember From: Burke Date: 29 Jan 03 - 08:35 PM And I remember that I thought we were uninvolved in this fight going on between 2 oil powers. Then a navy ship of ours that was in a nearby body of water was 'accidentally' bombed by one the participants. This was used as a reason for us to get more involved---on the side of the party that bombed us. |
