My Mum is very ill in Camarthen Hospital and consequently I'm spending an awful lot of time down there. Are there any sessions / folkclubs / people who fancy a jam in the area . ( i'm staying in Cardigan). I play guitar and Cittern and normally play in Irish sessions but love to play all styles.

If there's anything going on let me know and keep me sane !

There's a Monday night session in Drefach Felindre - very informal - in the John y Gwas. There's a music shop in (I think) St. Mary's street in Cardigan and they would know where other sessions are. There isn't anything really in Carmarthen town. I'll message a friend in the Cardigan area to see if he knows of anything. We have a Conference in Welshpool this coming weekend (a bit far from you) and there'll be a big session on the Sat. night. The only other one which comes to mind is ... Tues? ... in Fishguard in the Royal Oak pub. You could ring the pub to find out what night specifically.

If you're able to get up the coast in the other direction to Aberystwyth, there's a session in Y Cwps (The Coopers Arms)on a Tuesday night

There's another session on Wednesday nights in Aberystwyth at the Cambrian Hotel. It's a 'slow' session directed(at least it was)by a wonderful piper/fiddler named Peter. I'm sure the hotel would be able to give any info. You may want to contact the Cambrian Folk Society, also.

Sunday nights the Halfpenny Folk Club meets at the Greyhound Hotel, Oldwalls, North Gower (just outside Swansea). Guests approx. one per month, other Sundays singers nights. Dave Webber & Anni Fentimann next Sunday (9 February). 8:30ish start.

Don't go into Swansea, turn off M4 at J47, head for Gowerton, then through Penclawdd to Llanrhidian/ Oldwalls.

I'm the old geezer with the concertina .....

Crane Driver, What do you mean, don't go into Swansea? What's wrong with our fair city? DON'T ANSWER THAT!

Yes, The Halfpenny Folk Club is well worth a visit, especially this Sunday with the excellent Dave Webber & Anni Fentiman as the guests.

DON'T GO INTO SWANSEA.

You'll get lost.

Come to the beautiful Gower.

Maybe there's website of listings of sessions in Wales. If not, perhaps there needs to be one...any volunteers? I would, but I don't live there. There is a listing of 6 at a website called 'the session' and most of the listings are in Pembrokeshire. Here's the info: http://thesession.org/sessions/

Taplas - the print version - has a comprehensive (though not always accurate - not the editor's fault!) list of clubs.

Wonderful! I'll have to include this in the general info site at 'the session'.
