Subject: req: songs on morality and religion From: GUEST,Eoin O' Buadhaigh Date: 24 Feb 03 - 01:35 PM I have had a look in Digitrad and forum and have had no joy. can anyone suggest any songs or ballads. Even anything non-moral (not immoral) it's to sing at the Inishowen seminar 21st - 24th March. I have a few but it's good to fall back on a reserve. eoin |

Subject: Lyr Add: JIMMY AND THE PREACHER From: CRANKY YANKEE Date: 25 Feb 03 - 11:55 AM This is an original written by Donna Gibson, my Wife JIMMY AND THE PREACHER i Once I knew a preacherIn a chappel white and neat I asked him, could he pray as well in the alley or the street? He said , He'd never venture into that den o sin. But if you lock your door against the Devil, How can the Lord get in? (Chorus) How can the Lord get in? How can the Lord get in? If you lock your door ahgainst the Devil, How can the Lord get in? II He has it in for Jimmy because Jimmy isn"t clean Jimmy is a drinkin' man but it never made him mean. And when he sang to ease the pain, It was a sacred thing If you close your ears to the sound of evil You can't hear the Angels Sing. (Chorus) Can't hear the Angels Sing, You can't hearThe Angels sing If you close your ears to the sound of evil, you can't hear The Angels Sing. III If you'd passed that church last Sunday, You'd have heardan awful din That preacher was demanding that The Lord should come to him. He stormed the Gates of Heaven, But our Saviour wasn't in. No, The Lord was down at the local pub, Singin' harmony with Jim. (Chorus) Our Saviour wasn't in Our Saviour wasn't in, No, The Lord was down at the local pub Singin' harmony with Jim c 1977 Rose Island Music Renewed 1995 R I M & Donna Gibson |
