Subject: RE: Chord Req: nobody wants you when you're down and.. From: Mark Clark Date: 24 Feb 03 - 02:36 PM The song “Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out” is in the Digital Tradition database but I see there are no chords included there. I found a TAB for Derek & the Dominos version but I don't have a reference to see if their chords are correct. And here's one that purports to be Eric Clapton's chords. - Mark |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: nobody wants you when you're down and.. From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 24 Feb 03 - 03:30 PM I play it in G. Here are the chords I use: (G) Once I lived the (B) life of a (E9) millionaire (Am) Spending my (E9) money, with (Am) never a care (C) Takin' all my (Gdim) friends out (G) for a good (E) time (A) Drinkin' high-priced liquor, (D9) champagne and wine Same pattern repeats for the rest of the song. Here are the chord fingerings I use: G=355433 B=799877 E9=X76777 Am=577555 C=335553 Gdim=XX2323 E=022100 A=577655 D9=X54555 In the third line, it's nice to walk the G chord down to the E through F# and F. You can also substitute E9 for that E major. Bruce |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: nobody wants you when you're down and.. From: Steve-o Date: 25 Feb 03 - 12:26 PM If your voice "ain't got much range" like mine, you might try it in key of C: (C) Once I lived the (E) life of a (A7) millionaire (F) Spend my (A7) money, hell I (Dm) didn't care (F) Takin' my (B7) friends out (C) for a mighty fine (A7) time (D7) Drink hard liquor, (G7) champagne and wine Pattern follows throughout, as you know. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: nobody wants you when you're down and.. From: C-flat Date: 26 Feb 03 - 09:06 AM Like Steve-o I also play this song in C. Can I suggest an alternative to the B7 in the third line of Steve-os' example? I use an Ab7,(xx1112) which I think works better. |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: nobody wants you when you're down and.. From: Steve-o Date: 26 Feb 03 - 01:59 PM Hey, C-flat, you're right. That fancy chord works beautifully! When I try to figure out these things I hear on records my brain never goes to sophisticated stuff like Ab7.....I'll start using it! Thanks. |
