In the month of June in 1216, in the reign of old King John
At Rhuddlan Castle, in the land of Wales...

Can't find that one, but The Marsh of Rhuddlan commemorates the battle of Offa of Mercia and Caradoc (798)

In "The National Song Book" (which we sang from in school in Cardiff, and of which I have a copy) there's a set of English lyrics to the tune Morfa Rhuddlan, about a battle fought at Rhuddlan in which there were no victors because the tide came in and everyone drowned. I'm paraphrasing. But that would be an earlier song than 1970.
