I am trying to get in touch with the new version of transatlantic record company. Does anyone have any info on how i can get in contact? Also does anyone know if Nat Joseph is still alive and working for the label?

One thing I found on google at this webpage about two thirds of the way down, click here, shows it as an "associated lable" of Castle Music, but when I followed the link it was broken. When I did a google search on Castle Music, I found a small one with a name variation in Tennessee and one www.castlerecords.com which is part of Tower Records and seems to do a lot of gospel. Sorry, that probably doesn't help much.

My Ian Campbell Group CDs are re-releases of Transatlantic records - by Castle Communications Plc, no contact details, but they are Made in England & were released in 1996 & 1997.

There was recently a mention of the company in another unrelated Mudcat thread. Apparently they Do own the past catalogue of Transatlantic records, but mainly deal in non-folk material. Here is a Blicky to the thread - Mention of Castle Communications.

That is strange I sent Harvey Andrews a message asking about Transatlantic this morning.
Rick from the drop down menu what should it have been labelled as?

It should have been left blank, which is general music. Maybe I'll ask if that can be made more specific.

I have a couple of "Definitive Transatlantic Collection" CD's from Castle - the Dubliners and Hamish Imlach. These are very generous collections, at a budget price. Can anybody come up with a complete list of these collections?

In searching several pages of google, I came back to the first link which didn't work for Castle Communications. I get a small screen over the larger blank which tells me to change my windows to 800 X 600, which I don't want to do. Regardless, the page comes up blank. Katlaughing, I get the same small screen (splash page) as you, and I am using 800 X 600 screen size! If I close the splash page and then maximize the proper page it changes from blank to an actual webpage that lets you enter "Sanctuary Records Group". What an incompetent web designer they have! If it still won't work for you, there is an HTML version

Transatlantic Records.

This has reminded about an LP that I had quite a few years ago by a group called "Gryphon."
The A side had a wonderful instrumental composition entitled "Midnight Mushrumps".
At the time I was presenting a folk music programme on local radio. I left the album at the station, and never saw it again. Ever since I have been trying to get hold of the recording, but without success. It was on the Transatlantic label.

If there's anyone out there who can help me in tracking it down, I would be eternally grateful.

(There is a possibility of course that it might have been deleted?)

Skipper Jack, it looks as though there've been several CD re-issues of that LP, according to this discography.

Also, it looks as though this might be a good place to see if they have the actual Midnight LP: clickety.

If you put "gryphon LP" in a google search there's actually quite a few hits.

Castle Communications plc seems to be the supplier.

If you manage to find where in the South of France Nat Joseph went to ground I know a few songwriters who would like their solicitors to chat to him re a puzzling lack of payment of royalties over the years before he sold on copyrights that his title to was unclear. Also, some singers are doubtful as to the level of royalties they got. Catch my drift?
