Subject: BS: Transatlantic records From: GUEST Date: 10 Mar 03 - 02:41 AM I am trying to get in touch with the new version of transatlantic record company. Does anyone have any info on how i can get in contact? Also does anyone know if Nat Joseph is still alive and working for the label? Thanks. |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: katlaughing Date: 10 Mar 03 - 03:17 AM One thing I found on google at this webpage about two thirds of the way down, click here, shows it as an "associated lable" of Castle Music, but when I followed the link it was broken. When I did a google search on Castle Music, I found a small one with a name variation in Tennessee and one www.castlerecords.com which is part of Tower Records and seems to do a lot of gospel. Sorry, that probably doesn't help much. Good luck, kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: katlaughing Date: 10 Mar 03 - 03:22 AM Also probably a long shot, but there are two listings for "N. Josef" at Yahoo People search: click here. kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 10 Mar 03 - 07:29 AM My Ian Campbell Group CDs are re-releases of Transatlantic records - by Castle Communications Plc, no contact details, but they are Made in England & were released in 1996 & 1997. |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: katlaughing Date: 10 Mar 03 - 10:56 AM Thanks, Sandra, that gave me enough to find this on google: Castle Communications Plc LEATHERHEAD ROAD A29 BARWELL BUSINESS PARK CHESSINGTON SURREY KT9 2NY UNITED KINGDOM +44 81 9741021 +44 81 9742674 Found at click here. Maybe that's the right one? kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: Rick Fielding Date: 10 Mar 03 - 11:10 AM Why on earth is this labeled "BS"? Just askin' Rick Because Joe was off at Bible study. I fixed it now, Rick. |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: Geoff the Duck Date: 10 Mar 03 - 11:12 AM There was recently a mention of the company in another unrelated Mudcat thread. Apparently they Do own the past catalogue of Transatlantic records, but mainly deal in non-folk material. Here is a Blicky to the thread - Mention of Castle Communications. Quack! |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: belfast Date: 10 Mar 03 - 12:21 PM To echo Rick Fielding, this is not BS, it is music. |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: Steve Benbows protege Date: 10 Mar 03 - 12:35 PM That is strange I sent Harvey Andrews a message asking about Transatlantic this morning. Rick from the drop down menu what should it have been labelled as? It should have been left blank, which is general music. Maybe I'll ask if that can be made more specific. |
Subject: RE: BS: Transatlantic records From: Rick Fielding Date: 10 Mar 03 - 12:37 PM To echo Belfast....It's GREAT music as well! Cheers Rick |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: Joe Offer Date: 10 Mar 03 - 06:02 PM I have a couple of "Definitive Transatlantic Collection" CD's from Castle - the Dubliners and Hamish Imlach. These are very generous collections, at a budget price. Can anybody come up with a complete list of these collections? -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: katlaughing Date: 10 Mar 03 - 06:46 PM In searching several pages of google, I came back to the first link which didn't work for Castle Communications. I get a small screen over the larger blank which tells me to change my windows to 800 X 600, which I don't want to do. Regardless, the page comes up blank. Do any of you get anything on this page: http://www.castlemusic.com/? kat |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: GUEST, Dale Date: 10 Mar 03 - 08:17 PM Transatlantic is the outfit that owns the masters for the Grehan Sisters. I want a Grehan Sisters CD (Complete) and I WANT IT NOW!! |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: Snuffy Date: 10 Mar 03 - 08:28 PM I've got "On the Galtymore Mountains" on vinyl and CD. Pm me and I'll burn you one |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: GUEST, Dale Date: 11 Mar 03 - 03:25 AM Hi Snuffy. I can be reached at the handy hotmail address ~~ dale8r@hotmail.com I promise to check it, too! I don't want to sidetrack the general theme of the thread, but there are a couple of other things I'd like to mention to you. Thanks, Dale |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: OldPossum Date: 11 Mar 03 - 10:42 AM Katlaughing, I get the same small screen (splash page) as you, and I am using 800 X 600 screen size! If I close the splash page and then maximize the proper page it changes from blank to an actual webpage that lets you enter "Sanctuary Records Group". What an incompetent web designer they have! If it still won't work for you, there is an HTML version you can try. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: Skipper Jack Date: 12 Mar 03 - 09:56 AM Transatlantic Records. This has reminded about an LP that I had quite a few years ago by a group called "Gryphon." The A side had a wonderful instrumental composition entitled "Midnight Mushrumps". At the time I was presenting a folk music programme on local radio. I left the album at the station, and never saw it again. Ever since I have been trying to get hold of the recording, but without success. It was on the Transatlantic label. If there's anyone out there who can help me in tracking it down, I would be eternally grateful. (There is a possibility of course that it might have been deleted?) |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: katlaughing Date: 12 Mar 03 - 04:22 PM Thanks, Old Possum. I'll give it a try. Skipper Jack, it looks as though there've been several CD re-issues of that LP, according to this discography. Also, it looks as though this might be a good place to see if they have the actual Midnight LP: clickety. If you put "gryphon LP" in a google search there's actually quite a few hits. Hope that helps, kat |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: Skipper Jack Date: 13 Mar 03 - 03:18 PM Many thanks for the information, Kat. Yes! Gryphon's "Midnight Mushrumps" is the one I want. Castle Communications plc seems to be the supplier. All I have to do now is to find out how to contact them? Dave R. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: Skipper Jack Date: 13 Mar 03 - 03:27 PM Ah! I have just found your details of the Castle Communications address. Thanks again, kat! Regards, Dave R. |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: katlaughing Date: 13 Mar 03 - 03:33 PM You're welcome. Good luck! |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: GUEST,Ewan McVicar Date: 13 Mar 03 - 05:28 PM If you manage to find where in the South of France Nat Joseph went to ground I know a few songwriters who would like their solicitors to chat to him re a puzzling lack of payment of royalties over the years before he sold on copyrights that his title to was unclear. Also, some singers are doubtful as to the level of royalties they got. Catch my drift? |
Subject: RE: Transatlantic records From: Steve Benbows protege Date: 13 Mar 03 - 05:39 PM Oh shit what have i started.......? |
