I'm surprised that there hasn't already been some report of the fantastic night in support of 'Folk for Multiple Sclerosis' that was held last Friday at The St. Albans's Folk Club, (unless I've not spotted it, in which case, my apologies.)
I was delighted to be asked to 'host' the evening which included such local luminaries as Graeme Knights, George P, John Breeze, Mike Sparks, George Clarke, Christine, Vanessa and Hilary and a full evening of talented floor spots.
Suffering a definite touch of Dog Days de-ja vu, the fine pot was kept busy all night with the result that the club raised an incredible £245.08 which has been donated to 'Folk for MS'.
On behalf of myself and the three other trustees of the charity I would like to express our very grateful thanks to Breezy and the St. Alban's Folk Club for this magnificent contribution to our work.
We really are very grateful to St. Alban's and the other clubs, principally Herga, that have run Charity Nights in aid of FfMS and would welcome similar evenings being run by other clubs. In the first instance, interested club should contact us at
< info@folkforms.org >
The format has tended to be a structured 'singers night' featuring some of the best of the local performers. They have always been very popular events and have raised significant amounts. Visit the FfMS web site to see just what we are and how the monies raised have been used to help those suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.

The next main Folk for M.S. Concert will be held on Friday 13th June at The Old Mill Hall, Grove, Nr. Wantage Oxon as usual and will inclube Phil Beer and Deb Sandland, Johnny Coppin and a full support programme. More details to follow in due course.
I don't know of any other Charity Nights at Folk Clubs currently being planned but we would welcome any such. And thanks again for the support.

Being forced off the folk touring road myself by MS, and having lost two friends recently, Jonathan Eberhart (see his thread here at Mudcat) and Mary Hahne, our local librarian for 20 years here in Peru, Illinois USA just this week-----both had been bedridden for years with MS---this is a subject close to home for me.

Thank You----for all your good work aimed at finding an answer to the MS puzzle that goes beyond symptom control----and finds a cure.

Art Thieme

Actually Breezy you are wrong. Although you as an individual may not have been consulted Hilary most definitely was. In fact she she was more than encouraging, reminded me that it was for charity and supplied the finishing touches.
