I am looking for songs that have references to American history and/or culture. I would like to use these songs to teach Am. History to my ESL students. Any suggestions?

Wow, I wish I wee your student. A Woody Guthrie or Pete Seegar album is a History lesson in itself. You could try smithsonian or folkway for actual titles. "The Long Memory" (one of my favorites) available from Redhouse Records is a collection of songs about labor, it has a Spanish song or 2. Good Luck.
