Have you tried some of the LYRICS SITES in the LINKS column at the top of the page?

Try the one with 50 years of songs in it...

No gal made has got a shade on sweet Georgia Brown,
Two left feet but, oh, so neat, is Sweet Georgia Brown,
They all sigh and wanta die since she came to town,
Now I'll tell you just why, and you know I don't lie (not much!)
It's be said she knocks 'em dead when she comes around,
Since she came, well, it's a shame the way she turns them down,
Fellas she cain't get are fellas she ain't met,
Georgia named her, Georgia claimed her, Sweet Georgia Brown.

(I think that's about it; there may be a verse, too, but I don't know it.)

I see I came in second, but just after I sent mine, I remembered that the second line is Two left feet, but, oh, so neat, has Sweet Georgia Brown.

I also have a verse that goes ahead of the above:

She just got here yesterday,
Things are hot here, now, they say
There's a big change in town,
Some great big changes
Gals are jealous, there's no doubt,
Still the fellows rave about,
Sweet Georgia Brown
And ever since she came,
The local folks all claim: Say!

(words and music by Ben Birnie, Maceo Pinkard and Kenneth Casey. Perfomed by Nat King Cole)

I've used another half a verse after an instrumental break:

All those tips the waiter gives to Sweet Georgia Brown
Go to buy those fashion clothes for two dollars down
Oh boy! tip your hat. Oh boy! she's the cat's.
Georgia claimed her, Georgia named her, Sweet Georgia Brown.

The "cat's" refers to cat's whiskers, ie the best!! All good songs have a nickname. We called this one "Scaffolding" OK?

Cheers.

Ted

Beachcomber I'll post these Guitar Chords in the morning at about 8AM for Sweet Georgia Brown and if you can find a fiddler to play this for you it is real easy to follow and they do an excellent job Louie Roy

This is the F chord pattern and I'll put the chord change ahead of the word it changes on. To start this song you should use a run starting on the D string 3RD fret 1 beat which is the F note and represents the word "no" then D string 2ND fret 1 beat represents the word "Gal" then D string 1ST fret which represent the word "made" then a full D chord.

...has got a shade on Sweet Georgia (G)Brown
Two left feet and oh so sweet has Sweet Georgia (C)Brown
They all sigh and wanna die for Sweet Georgia (F)Brown
I'll tell you just why, you know I don't lie (A7)(2 or 3 beats then...)
(D)It's been said she knocks them dead when she lands in town
(G)Since she came why it's a shame how she cools them down
(Am)Fellers she can't (Em)get (Am)are fellers she's not (Em)met
(F)Georgia claimed her(C)Georgia (D)named her(G)SWEET (C)Georgia (F)Brown

(then D Chord and start over.)

IN G Chord the pattern would be G-E-A-D-G-B7-E-A-Bm-
Fm-Bm-Fm-G-D-E-A-D-G. Hope this helps.

Louie Roy
