Subject: Chord Req: I Know How The River Feels From: Genie Date: 01 Apr 03 - 02:38 PM Looking for chords to a song (seems to be a c/w "ballad") called "I Know How The River Feels." I have downloaded an MP3 of Clay Aiken singing the song on a demo, so I can transcribe the words from that. I probably can also figure out the chords, if no one knows the song and has the chords handy. But I would like to know who wrote it and if it's been around a while or is new. Also, has it been recorded by anyone well known? (It sounds like the sort of thing Vince Gill might sing.) The song has the same kind of feel and sentiment to it as "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." I'll appreciate any info you have about the song. Genie |
Subject: Lyr Add: I KNOW HOW THE RIVER FEELS From: Sorcha Date: 01 Apr 03 - 02:58 PM Found the lyrics, save yourself transcribing them. I KNOW HOW THE RIVER FEELS (Steven Dale Jones/Amy Powers) They say for everyone, there's that certain one Out there, somewhere I'd been looking hard, searching every heart Getting nowhere Didn't know I was making my way to you Now I know how the river feels When it reaches the sea And finally finds the place It was always meant to be Holding fast, home at last Knowing the journey's through Lying here with you I know how the river feels Miles of loneliness, now make perfect sense Here beside you Tears like water fall, it was worth it all Just to find you And yours are the last arms I'll run to Now I know how the river feels When it reaches the sea And finally finds the place It was always meant to be Holding fast, home at last Knowing the journey's through Lying here with you I know how the river feels Holding fast, home at last Knowing the journey's through Lying here with you I know how the river feels Oh, I know how the river feels Tab can be found here and somebody smarter than me can copy/paste with the chords. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: I Know How The River Feels From: Genie Date: 01 Apr 03 - 05:30 PM Lane, If you like, I'll send you an MP3 of Clay singing the song. If you don't know who he is, he's the skinny kid that looks a bit like Bill Gates did in high school but who is blowing the audience away with his voice on "American Idol." I don't know who originally did the song, but Clay's recording of it sends shivers up and down my spine. PM me your e-dress if you'd like the MP3. I would post a link to where I found the MP3, but I've lost the link. And Sorcha, thanks for posting the lyrics. Are you sure that the chorus goes "...holding fast, home at last..." and not "...rolling fast ...?" I've listened to it over and over and sometimes it sounds like "holding" but more often it sounds like "rolling." |

Subject: Lyric/Chord Add: I KNOW HOW THE RIVER FEELS From: Genie Date: 01 Apr 03 - 08:24 PM Here are the lyrics as Clay Aiken sang them on the demo I mentioned above. And here are the chords I figured out from listening to that version. (The Fmaj7 and the Dm7 are optional; you could stay on F. And the Dm in the last line of the chorus could be an F. The C to A7 transition in the 3rd line of the chorus should be a walk down, but I can't post my vertical arrows here.) Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: I KNOW HOW THE RIVER FEELS From: Genie Date: 04 Apr 03 - 09:41 PM After playing around with the song for a while, here's the chord pattern I finally settled on. It works for me, but in several places there's more than one chord that will fit. Depends a lot on the harmony you use. I capo to the second or third fret. * The straight veritcal line ( | ) in the chord pattern below is supposed to be a walkdown arrow, but I can't get the arrows to come out in the posts, so you'll have to add the points to the arrows.
