Subject: RE: BAGDAD tuning From: GUEST,Arnie Date: 06 Apr 03 - 09:00 PM I heard that Julia made up a tune on her axe of evil using BAGDAD tuning, called "Shlock and AH". Somehow I find it hard to believe. What about you -are you with her or against her? |

Subject: RE: BAGDAD tuning From: CraigS Date: 06 Apr 03 - 09:35 PM You can get some coherent tunes from this if you read it backwards, ie. DADGAB is a useful tuning. I've got a couple of old blues songs that were originally in DGDGBD which I play in DADF#AB - the key of D to suit my vocal range and the B to compensate for arthritis slowing up my fingers. I have determined that these tunes and a lot of others could be played in DADGAB, and I can see that it might occasionally make the fingering easier, but the only other reason I can see for using this tuning is to confuse the unwary guitar feelers who just have to pick up your guitar and strum it the minute you leave the room. |
Subject: RE: BAGDAD tuning From: Kaleea Date: 07 Apr 03 - 02:43 AM As a kid, I used to have a Piano method book in which I solved word puzzles from the notes on a sample staff. My favorites were always "bagdad" (which I knew was the home of Jeannie on "I dream of Jeannie") and "fag" and yes, they were really in my piano book!. |
