The death has occurred of Eva Narcissus Boyd age 59. Better known as "Little Eva", she had a hit in the 1960s with the number "The Locomotion." She had been suffering from cancer for some time but managed to work up to 2001. At Peace.

She also did one of the best versions of "Swinging on a Star", along with another singer whose name I don't remember. "The Locomotion" is still a rock & roll classic. Thanks, Eva.

I think the other singer was Big Dee Irwin.

I saw her at the Ritz Cinema in Cleethorpes in the 60s. "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby" was good as well. RIP Eva Narcissus.

Just a couple of weeks ago we had a discussion about her at work. I'd tried to say she WAS Carol King. I was wrong. King wrote Locomotion, but it was because Eva had been her babysitter and had done this little dance that inspired King to write the song.

I'm sad to see that Little Eva is dead, I never saw her but I have some of her recordings, The Locomotion and swinging on a star.
May she rest in peace.

Tom

That voice and that song..........the type that the mere mention of brings a flood of adolescent memories to mind, ......... and a huge smile on the face. God be good to Little Eva. She will be a worthy addition to the Angel Band.

Ever since I read this and even before I posted, I've been shuffling around the kitchen, cooking, doing the dishes, etc. and singing (badly), "Everybody's do-oo-ing a brand new dance now"..........The kids keep looking at me as though I'm nuts. Do we ever really feel the age we are or can the songs of all types take us back to the age we think (or wish) we still were? And then you realize that Eva (and many others) are gone..............a weird kind of angst.

Yep, Spaw, old pal, I feel the same. Great observation.

Her "Turkey Trot" was in the English pop charts 30 years ago this month.
