Does anyone know the chords to "The Shores Of The Swilly" by Phil Coulter? It's sung by Sinead O'Connor on the duble cd "The Celtic Circle". A BIG thanks for any kind of help!!

I've been looking (at intervals) for over a year now... no results. I've even gone and looked through all Phil Coulter's published books to try and find the song... i doubt it exists! and I couldn't figure out all the chords by myself.
if u want to know, It starts with: {Bb E Bb} {Eb Bb Eb} hehe that's as far as I got.

good luck!

Hey these are not hard to figure, just being lazy I did a quick search, no luck, but found your query, so I had to listen and use trial and error and it is clearly in the key of Bflat which no guitarist in his right mind should use, so put your capo on the 3rd fret and use the key of G with the first 2 lines like so:
GCGCEmAmGD
GCGCEmAmGDG (just a quick D in there before the final G)

Those 2 lines are repeated, which completes a verse. There is only one different bit, the two lines starting "And if I was a flier...":
EmCGC
EmCGD
And of course the piano break is just the same as a verse. If you don't like the full sound of the chords use partials,or just notes, as you like. Beautiful song, enjoy.

For the record, I think we ought to have the lyrics, also.

Here's what I found, although the source is unreliable. nybody have a better transcription?

The Shores Of The Swilly
(Phil Coulter as sung by Sinead O'Connor)

By the shores of the Swilly, two children at play,
The king of the castle, the queen of the May;
Just me and my sister, in a world of pretend
Where the sun would keep shining, the day never end.

By the shores of the Swilly, now with kids of our own,
Another year over, and see how they've grown;
Then we'd watch the last sunset, and walk arm in arm
Till I see you next summer, God keep you from harm.

And if I was a flier who crashed now and then,
She would put me together and fly me again.

[ Piano ]

If I was a flier who crashed now and then,
She would put me together and fly me again.

By the shores of the Swilly, with an aching inside
I'll watch as her body is raised from the tide...
Her life has been taken, and I'll never know why
But I feel in that moment, a part of me died.

transcribed by ear from the Celtic Circle CD compilation

Those lyrics look fine. But my chords were not quite right. Need to change all the A minors to A minor sevenths.
And there is something about the second C in each GCGC sequence that is not quite right. Will look at that when I have more time. It is a variation on C but I'm not sure what variation. The C chord does well enough but the piano puts in something a little different, and more impressive (mainly a deep bass note too deep for the guitar).

If you need a hand working out the chord sequence have a listen to my video... Taken of his 2001 'Lake of Shadows' album.

I think the variation on the last C in the GCGC sequence you talked about is a Csus2, with the d-note on top ;)
