Happy News!

Johnson Girl Alison Kelley and Dutch chanteyman Stephan Kraan were married this past Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Seaman's Church Institute, South Street Seaport, in New York City.

Let's wish the newlyweds all the best!

By the way, the Johnson Girls will be performing at the Advent Lutheran Church in NYC (Broadway & West 93rd) on Friday, May 16, 2003. The concert begins at 8:00 PM sharp.

Sorry, fellas, but all five J-Girls are now accounted for. On the other hand, their menfolk could make a pretty decent chanteymen quintent in their own right -- Stephan Kraan, Steve Mayer, Mark Maniak, Dan Milner, and Sean Murtha. Maybe we'll be hearing from the Johnson Boys one of these days!

The happy couple will be performing (er-I mean singing) at The Swansea Maritime & Shanty Festival, Wales, UK over the weekend of the 23-24 July, 2005.

Joy & Chris will be joined at the Swansea festival by, Johnny Collins; Graeme Knights; Hanging Johnny; Shanty Crew; Roy Clinging & Neil Brookes; Hughie Jones; Baggyrinkle; Shanty Jack and Vagrants Crew.

It was a joy seeing/hearing them at the San Francisco Festival of the Sea earlier this month. I became an instant Big Fan. And some of them showed up at the Starry Plough in Berkeley the next night, and added wonderfully to the evening. (I'm not enough of a fan yet to know who's who on sight...)

Hi Mark -- the next CD is in the planning stages -- time and availability - time and availability

also, the wedding sort of pushed everything else aside - including my husband Chris' solo CD as well as mine!

we had a fantastic time in SFO -- fabulous festival - great performers and terrific folks in the audience. August found us in Quebec and in October we were in the Netherlands - at the Workum shantyfest. Amazing time everywhere. We have been very fortunate to have met many wonderful people over the years-- and we continue to make new friends -- off to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia this summer - other great things to come. Of course we work full time as well...
