I'm going to be working in whitby soon and i'll be staying over night for at least a week. Are there any folk clubs etc. i could attend? Many thanks, Colin

These are the clubs in the area as far as I can remember. I'm sure someone else will confirm.

Saturday ...... White Hart Folk Club, Mickleby (about 8 miles North)
Sunday .... session .... Tap and Spile , Whitby
Monday ...... Scarborough Folk Club
Wednesday ..... Whitby Folk Club
Thursday ..... session ...... Saltergate
Friday ..... Robin Hoods Bay Folk Club

And depending on when you're going, there's an excellent Festival coming up. Moor and Coast is on over the 1st Bank Holiday weekend. Can't remember the dates, but I know we're going a week on Friday.

As well as the Sunday night session the Tap & Spile has music on other weekday nights. Monthly details are advertised in the pub.Also local events for the Pavillion etc will be on the notice boards.

The Endeavour, on Church Sreet has impromtu Folk Sessions on occasional Saturdays. "The First in, Last Out", a pub in the Fishburn Park area has a session every Tuesday. There's music to be heard and made virtually every night in the Whitby area.

Mandomad is too modest to admit he is a mainstay of the Endeavour sessions, and yes, they have been good.

Whitby Folk club on Wednesday is in the Plough, as far as I know (just round the corner from the Tap and Spile).
