Subject: Tech: Goddam CD player From: John MacKenzie Date: 25 Apr 03 - 02:27 PM I have a Sony CD player that interferes with every other radio within 30ft, it even affects my car radio through the 3ft thick walls of my old cottage. Is there a cure for this, or do I bite the bullet and sell it on Ebay? I was so pleased with it when I brought it home, and now I'm really pissed off with it. Help.....Giok |
Subject: RE: Tech: Goddam CD player From: GUEST,Russ Date: 25 Apr 03 - 02:36 PM If you're living in a cottage wit 3ft thick walls, it doesn't sound like you're living in the USA. Anyway, in the states there are rules about such things. On the back of my minidisc recorder is a label which says "This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules...This device may not cause harmful interference." Sounds like your CD player clearly breaks such emission rules. Take it back and get a refund. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Goddam CD player From: SeanM Date: 25 Apr 03 - 02:46 PM Hate to say it, but returning it may be the option. All electronic devices emit fairly harmless electromagnetic radiation that could interfere with other devices in the area. Normally, the manufacturers take steps to reduce the amount of interference and/or to shield the inner workings to both reduce the problem and reduce the effect other devices have on it. Sounds like the one you have has either defective or no shielding to keep from doing so. Mine's a completely non-professional analysis, though. M |
