I am trying to find the words of the song . Mi cannot memba oo sing it needa. I remeber it from the 80's.

AnnA, one of the problems with trying to search out these lyrics is that there is nothing unique about them. There are thousands of songs to sift through that speak of "the darkest night" and "light your way" etc.. I'm afraid we have little to go on here unless you can remember something more or unless, by some coincidence, someone here happens to have heard the song in question. Be patient. This may take quite some time.

Hi Anna,

I tried searching using Google.com using various words and/or phrases from the lines you gave us. There are songs with the words "even in the darkest night" in them but they don't seem to be the right ones.

What style of music was it? Was it pop or rock or folk or Christian? Was it a solo singer or a band, male or female, etc? Where did you hear it - on the radio, and which station(s), on a record, live, etc?

We'll do what we can to help but please search your memory for more info.

The song was by a male singer. It was a love song in the era of Krystal Gale, Peabo Bryson an early days of Luther Vandross.

The part I remember is the chorus...

The verse goes something like
"Oh, sometimes, we shadow all the dreams we sleft behid
Though deep inside I know I'll carry on
And tonight .........
The way to higher ground.....
But love we
And hope will give you strength to carry on
While the night is blowing cold I'll be there to warm your heart...

something like that.....

The Whispers recorded a song called LIFE AND BREATH. It's on their album "Life and Breath" (1972). It contains these words:

"You are life and breath to me.
If you believe in dreams enough, then they'll believe in you.
That's what you used to tell me, so I know it must be true.
Day after day...."

However, the song is credited to George Clinton Jr.

It was also recorded by The Moments, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, and a few others. I don't see that Ronnie Dyson had anything to do with it.

Thanks Jim, but you are incorrect. Ronnie Dyson wrote the song for The Whispers in 1972 and it never took off; so in 1974/1975 Ronnie recorded it for his album and it became a big hit for Ronnie

My information was from allmusic.com (which I should have said in the first place).

ASCAP.com also credits LIFE AND BREATH to George S Clinton, but it also says that "R Dyson" recorded it (among others).
