Courtesy of Babel Fish, I shall hereafter refer to "posts" as "starter shafts". I shall also refer to "Babel fishing" as "peach de Confusion".

Here's what my post said before Babel fish "translated" it into Italian:

Posts in foreign languages are funny - up to a point. That point comes between the fifth and sixth post. You guys can continue to post them, but I've had enough Babel fishing for a while.

I see all this Spanish Lingo going on, and I don't know what the fuck you're all saying but...
Ha! What a party! Where were you all?
I have a story (or two)
I had the strippers for a couple getting married in two weeks, and they got out there dancing (a man and woman-the man wearing the roadkill loincloth forementioned) and the bride to be, got naked on stage before the strippers did!
It was due to reckless abandon I think.
another story...
My new stage now has a sqiggly rubber track on it from a harvest moon Harly Davidson wild man. It was about 5 guys holding the bike down and I think he found fourth gear. The stage was smokin'.
third story...
Erect Fossils played until dawn and we did exactly as weird as we knew we would.
Rustic
P.s. I am posting headache free because the party seems to be still going.

Where exactly is this party, RR? Alaska?

I didn't know that Reckless was going -- she lives here. Her and her twin sister, Gay, in the old Abandon house their family has lived in for a century, down in the Old Town section of the city. They're nice old ladies, always good for a cup of tea and a ladyfinger in the afternoon.

Bush Lays Off Congress; will Outsource Lawmaking to India

Reuters International Release

Washington - Citing the growing cost of running the Federal government and the need to cut costs in order to reduce the budget deficit, President Bush announced today that he was laying off all 535 members of Congress and transferring lawmaking operations to a legislative support center in Bangalore, India. "Hey, outsourcing is the way to go these days," said Bush at an impromptu news conference where he announced the decision, adding, "the American people want to see less government waste. Since every one of those ex-Congressmen had a salary of $150,000, this move will cut our costs by over $80 million per year, and that's not even counting what we'll save on health insurance and retirement plans." Sources indicate that the Indian replacements will be paid approximately $250 per month.

However, the changes won't take effect immediatly, Bush said. "Members of congress could remain on the job an extra 30 days if they agree to train their replacements. If you think about it, this really frees congress up. They now have the opportunity to seek better jobs elsewhere in the economy. It really is a win-win for both countries," he went on to say.

The outcry from the newly laid-off Senators and Representatives was swift. Ex-California Senator Diane Feinstein said, "This is absolutely outrageous. How can a bunch of replacements over in India run Congress? What do they know about filibusters and committee hearings?" As she was being escorted out of the Hart Senate Office Building by U.S. Capitol Police officers, Feinstein complained that the newly-terminated lawmakers, those who chose not to train their replacements, were only given ten minutes to clean out their desks and leave the building.

"I think it's a great idea," said Vice President Dick Cheney, speaking from a secure undisclosed location. "The American people were fed up with that expensive do-nothing Congress which didn't always give the President everything he asked for. Our new Indian replacements will be much more cooperative to the President, which is what we all want."

Asked whether the outsourcing may be unconstitutional, Cheney noted,
"That's up to the Supreme Court to decide, but as you know, they usually see things our way."

The new members of Congress seem thrilled with the attention they are
receiving. Speaking from the offices of All-India Legislative Support
Centre Ltd. in Bangalore, new Mississippi Senator Ramchandra Shekar Gupta told reporters, "The Indian people are very hard working and we will do our best as U.S. Congressmen and Congresswomen. And we are going to have some Fun too. Just think: we have $2 trillion of the American taxpayers' money to spend!"

Darwin Awards,....BS or truth...who knows, but it ain't in spanish...yet.

PADERBORN, GERMANY - Overzealous zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt fed his
constipated elephant, Stefan, 22 doses of animal laxative and more than
a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged-up pachyderm
finally let fly and suffocated the keeper under 200 pounds of poop!
Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the
ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded on
him. "The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked
Mr. Riesfeldt to the ground, where he struck his head on a rock and lay
unconscious as the elephant continued to evacuate his bowels on top of
him," said flabbergasted Paderborn police detective Erik Dern. "With no
one there to help him, he lay under all that dung for at least an hour
before a watchman came along, and during that time he suffocated. It
seems to be just one of those freak accidents that happen."

This just in from Hull, U.K.! A mysterious person going under the alias "One who must remain nameless" posted this little poetic gem on the latest Punch the Horse thread:

In Cottingham Road by Chanterlands
I spied a damsel fair
With rosy cheeks and ruby lips
And ribbons in her hair
Said I, "Must be an angel that's
Descended from on high
To walk these fabled roads alone
Beneath the autumn sky."

I thought perchance to speak with her
And ask from where she came
And what could be her heritage
Her purpose and her name
Made bold, I ambled up to her
And did my hat remove
To show a gallant style of which
I hoped she would approve

"Young man," she said, "you'd best be off
lest you should catch a cold,
For damp's the heath in Chanterlands,
And stories have been told
Of lads who perished in the dew
While hunting bonny quail
Because their coats got soggy through
Which warmth could not avail."

"Oh, no," I cried, "For I am made
Of sterner stuff than that!"
"Indeed?" said she, "But list to me
And put back on your hat.
For on your pate I cannot help
But spy the shiny spot
Upon which is emblazoned
"Neath here stands a drunken sot!"

"What say you?" and I gasped in shock
She said, "It's plain to see
Some rascal's played a joke on you!
Here, look at this, prithee."
She held a pocket mirror up
And in its light I saw
The shiny spot that did declare
That message...'twas nae braw!

"My God!" I cried, "Some vile affront
This is, I'm sorely vexed!"
Said she, "You've kept bad company, I fear,
First drink and next,
A slow descent into depravity
And common vice
May soon deprive you of your health,
So take my good advice..."

"Eschew the company of scoundrels,
Scamps and libertines,
Peruse instead the classics
And subscribe to magazines
That honour art and culture
And the noble spirit's call
And most of all, avoid the poems
Of Malcolm Buggeroll!"

"That name!" I shrieked, "I might have known!
'Twas just on Friday last
When he and I did share a drink...or two...
And brief repast
That villain's had a joke on me
And shaved my head in jest!
And on it painted slanderous words
To rob me of my rest!"

So off I stumbled, red in face,
In shame I did retreat
But I shall find that Scottish swine
And mercillessly beat
Him to a pulp for causing me
Such sharp embarrassment
Before that splendid damsel
She is gone now, I lament!

In Cottingham Road by Chanterlands
There was a damsel fair
With rosy cheeks and ruby lips
And ribbons in her hair
Now nevermore her shall I see
And wretched is my fate
For Ms Penelope Rutledge has
Returned to Twillingsgate!

From May to December
But it's longer still
When I remember
The way this thread began
On that day long ago
When Khandu launched it
And the BS flowed

Now the posts dwindle down
To a precious few
Some in English
Some in Spanish

But those few posts we have
Shall not be in vain
For the BS lives
And will rise again!

As has already been determined, the total supply of BS in the Universe is infinity-minus-one-mebbe-one-and-a-half. There's lots of it. However, that does not mean that the BS is equally and evenly distributed. BS does not adhere to the Mediocrity Principle (the principle that no place in the Universe is special - it would look more or less the same regardless of where you happen to be in it). BS comes in massive clumps and those clumps often occur in series (or sometimes in parallel). Some days there are lots of clumps. Some days there are none. Some days the bull is constipated. Some days he has diarrhea.

But, have no fear! The BS will NOT go away.

Queen CaroltheSailorgirl, I suspect foul play in this matter of King Khandazz. It has been some little time since he complained of a sticky keyboard on his laptop and also of being severely backed up.

Naturally I advised our Lord and Ruler to run the laptop through a common automatic dishwasher and to drink a quart of kerosene daily to solve these minor maladies and have heard not a word from his Highness since. It is very curious I think.

"Too" and "to". There's a big difference. It's little slip-ups like this that stand between you freds and complete interplanetary dominance. Unless you master the finer points you will never escape your present fate of being confined to the mediocre peanut gallery in the galaxy of universal BS.

Oh dear Lord! I opened my mailbox and whatta ya think was in it? Junk mail from freds! That's right folks! Freds have opened a store in my town of residence.   (Well, actually I don't reside there. I live 20 miles away, but it's the closest town big enough to have a post office.) I have received a 24 page color brochure that says:

"FRED'S Grand Opening! Wednesday, Oct. 1st!"

I did make note of the fact that "FRED'S" is capitalized and contains an apostrophe, but I'm sure that is just due to those tricky freds trying to confuse the issue. We know the truth! It's freds' attempt to hunt me down and force me to pay hatchling support to that slut Bubba Bubba! Well. it ain't gonna happen! You freds think you can just open a store and offer DVD players for $49.99 and Dawn dishwashing liquid for 4/$3.00 and that I'll rush in there like a typical dollar-store junkie and be ensnared in your trap. Hah! I wouldn't touch one of those DVD players with an eleven-foot pole! I'm sure that there's some kind of built-in tracking device in the remote control. No way baby! This guy wasn't born yesterday. You freds want me, come and get me! But you better come prepared for a fight!

On the other hand, the 39 oz. cans of Folgers coffee for $4.50 each are a pretty good deal, and my wife likes Folgers.   Maybe I'll send her in for a couple of cans.

Maybe I just missed it (and, contrary to popular belief, I do have a life to lead so I can't spent all day looking for it) but I didn't see any reference to the '60s British group Freddy and the Dreamers on the Fred Society page. Who can forget "Do the Freddy"? I certainly hope that they are, in fact, mentioned somewhere on the sight. Having a Fred Society site without that particular Fred is like having a Bill Society without Shatner.

I also fail to believe that they didn't mention the Fred's stores to which I referred in my earlier post. (No it wasn't a joke.) Fred's stores are all over south Alabama but the one that just opened here is Fred's first incursion into Florida. They began as chain of drug stores but the bankruptcy of a regional grocery chain left some larger-than-a-drugstore-would-ever-need size retail spaces for lease at below-market rates so Fred's has expanded into a WalMart wannabe.

Bee-dubya, I have tried and tried to understand what the hell it is you mean by saying:

"I also fail to believe that they didn't mention the Fred's stores to which I referred in my earlier post."

Ummm...what? It isn't a question of believing, it's just a question of looking it up. How does one "fail to believe" something? You either do believe it or you don't....or you don't know what to believe, in which case you reserve judgement, pending further investigation. Does this failure to believe have you pacing the floor at night? Who are the mysterious "they" who didn't mention the Fred's stores? Which earlier post?

Does your failure to believe imply a reluctance to rest your assurance upon assumptions from which one can infer a lack of complete certainty or is it rather the case that you are simply not yet experienced enough in the dialectics of belief systems and their corollary apposites to venture a firm opinion based on belief or unbelief?

Little Hawk,

To address your confused state:

1) "Fail to believe" is synonymous with "I find difficult to believe". If "believe" carries too many religious connotations you may substitute "understand". It may be a southern colloquialism that is not used in Soviet Cannuckstan, or possibly not even north of Virginia. I don't know.

2) "They", in the context of the post to which you refer, means the members of The Fred Society. It has nothing to do with paranoid states. I'm not saying that I'm not paranoid, and, yes, sometimes "they" does refer to "them", but not in this case.

3)"My earlier post" refers to the post which I made to this thread at 8:15 PM on September 30, in which I mentioned having received junk mail from Fred's stores and to which you responded "Har!" at 2:38 PM on October 1.

I hope you are now un-confused, clear and lucid and only suffering under the delusions and illusions that are normal parts of your rather tilted waking consciousness.

I still do not believe that anyone can fail to believe something. They can believe it or not believe it. They can choose to believe or not believe. They can decide to believe or not to believe. But they cannot fail to believe! It's ridiculous. It would be like failing to exist (or not).

This implies failure on such a massive scale that I am surprised you dare to admit to it on a public forum... :-)

I fail to see what you mean, Amos... :-)

In order to fail to exist, something must perforce exist, because if it didn't exist it could not experience failure! Failure is not experienced in a total vacuum, it implies a prior field of action, so to speak, upon which field one endeavours to succeed or fail at something.

Now, I can see that something could fail to continue existing on a given timeline, but how can it fail to exist, period?

Further to that, linear time as we know it is itself contained within the eternal NOW which is inclusive of all time...therefore although something may fail to exist at a given moment on the timeline it cannot fail to exist in the larger context of all Eternity.

Anything that is capable of failure HAS to exist!

Dontcha love this thread? :-)

And who is the scrawny old harpy that RR is referring to? If this insult is directed at my maiden aunt, I shall be vexed! If it is directed toward Orillia's most senior town librarian, then I must admit it's accurate.
