In the U-boat's tower
Captain Hawk glowered
"Vee missed zem," he growled to the crew
"Load up tubes ein, und zwei und drei,
"Und zen vunce again vee vill shoot.
"Und zis time vee'll sink zem
"Right to ze bottom
"Und zen vee vill all celebrate
"Ze vill nefer make port
"Vee vill bring zem up short
"long before verdammt serty-s'ree K!"

ALas, Rapaire, the helmsman bold
He could not stand the gaff;
The endless gale got to his nerves
And he started in to laugh.
He swore he was fighting German subs
In 1943;
So we put him below with Little Hawk
To restore his sanity.

Our clothes were wet and their hides were raw
And the scudding clouds blew by,
When someone a glimpse of sunlight saw
A crack in a slate-dark sky.
He hollered loud for the rest to see
The proof of a living day,
And we whooped it up till the clouds shut down
On course for the next of Kay.

1943 was a tough year. It started out okay, but hit the breaking point by about halfway through, and the happy time for the U-boats was over. Casualties by war's end were over 90% in the U-boat service, the highest of any combat arm in the war as far as I know.

But Rapaire was broken wuss than we thought,
An' his mind was bent on talk,
An' by the time the watch stood down
He'd infected Little Hawk.
So we tied them up in their burlap wraps
Down below, out of all harm's way
And we let them gabble 'bout Nazi subs,
And we steered for the next of Kay.

After a week of wear, Unfortunately, Shanes socks tend to smell abit like doritos . Dogs love socks and doritos. Best to take them off, Shane, if the dog is hungery.

Facebook and Mashable seem to not be up and running this afternoon. As long as good ol' mudcat is here, I will survive.

♫♫

I got them methemoglobinemia blues
and I'm as blue as I can be
I got them methemoglobinemia blues
and I'm as blue as I can be
I'm blue from my lips
down to th' tip of my wee-wee

You know I'd rather be green
like Kermit th' talkin' frog
You know I'd rather be green
like Kermit th' talkin' frog
Than to spend my whole life
bluer than a blue-tick hound dog

They say the sun's gonna shine

But when you got this methemoglobinemia
them ol' blues won't never go away

The congenital form of methemoglobinemia has an autosomal recessive pattern of inheritance.

Due to a deficiency of the enzyme diaphorase I (NADH methemoglobin reductase), methemoglobin levels rise and the blood of met-Hb patients has reduced oxygen-carrying capacity. Instead of being red in color, the arterial blood of met-Hb patients is brown. This results in the skin of Caucasian patients gaining a bluish hue. Hereditary met-Hb is caused by a recessive gene. If only one parent has this gene, offspring will have normal-hued skin, but if both parents carry the gene there is a chance the offspring will have blue-hued skin.

Another cause of congenital methemoglobinemia is seen in patients with abnormal hemoglobin variants such as hemoglobin M (HbM), or hemoglobin H (HbH), which are not amenable to reduction despite intact enzyme systems.

Methemoglobinemia can also arise in patients with pyruvate kinase deficiency due to impaired production of NADH - the essential cofactor for diaphorase I. Similarly, patients with Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency may have impaired production of another co-factor, NADPH.

We had only eighty leagues to go
And the sky was turning lighter
ANd the good ole boat still flew afloat,
She 'uz born and built a fighter.
And I reckon the height of the seas came down
To something more like twenty.
So we figgered we might see an end to our woes,
Which was good, as we'd all had plenty.

But the wind kept ripping through the stays
Screaming like hell's own daughter,
And down below, the cry came out
"By DAMN!!! She's takin' water!!"
And sure there was water in the bilge
Where the keelson had set to leakin'
ANd one of the seams had come unpaid
And cracked, instead of creakin'.

Well I don't need to say how pale we grew
As we checked that water level,
An' we untied Hawk and t'othah one too,
(By Christ, they looked dishelvel'd!
They was green at the gills and their eyes was wild,
And their nerves was strained and jumpin'
But we slapped them both till they came around,
ANd we set those boys to pumpin'.

Nobody else claims it but me!
I love my 32923!

Hi Mom!

Here's some stupid questions for ya...

1) How come a palindrome is called a "palindrome"? Wouldn't it make more sense to call it a word that actually is a palindrome?

2) And how come a lisp is called a "lisp"? It's a cruel joke! If there's one word in the English language a person with a lisp can't possibly say, it's "lisp".

3) And how come we put rock salt on roads in winter to make stuff MELT, but we put it in ice cream churns to make stuff FREEZE?

1620–30; < Gk palíndromos recurring, equiv. to pálin again, back + -dromos running (see -drome )

The world's longest Palindromic string is here. I will not dignify it by calling it a sentence. The longest English palindromic word is redivider (9 letters). The longest palindromic word in any language is saippuakivikauppias (19 letters), Finnish for lye dealer.

SO there ye go.

Women are a labyrinth, my friend. Can I be frank? I don't think you listen to her. I think you tell her what she wants to hear. She wants you to thirst for knowledge about who she is, all the complicated splendor that is women. When your love is truly giving, it will come back to you ten fold.

Now Ed, he knew a thing or two
And he'd been feeling bored
So he'd dug about, when his watch stood down,
In the bosn's stores up forward.
And he made his way aft, and came below
Hanging on to the frozen lines
With a couple of bags of oakum hemp,
Some pitch and a caulkin' iron.

ANd they hung him into that foul aft bilge
By his heels with a double-hitch,
And he cussed and hammered and caulked that leak
And then he asked for pitch.
Well the pitch was cold, it was hard as ice
Like a crystal lump of coal
And there weren't no fire for'd or aft
TO melt that pitch's soul.
But Kendall said he knew a trick
To help us in our muddle,
And he whispered some cuss words over that lump
That reduced it to a puddle.

So they paid the seam and like a sailor's dream,
The water stayed outside
And everyone said Ed was a champ
And welcome to the ride.
The wind backed round about that time
Blowing clean on the starbahd quahter
And a little break in the scudding clouds
Lent some sunlight to the water.

The ending of the day

From some rum he'd stored away
And said, "Here's a toast to a feisty crew,
And the thirty-three of K!"

Wait a minute! Officer Dana's marryin' some dude named Archie. Archie of "Archie Comics" fame is engaged to Veronica Lodge. (Yes it's official. He chose Veronica, not Betty, much to the displeasure of "Archie" fans worldwide.) Penelope Rutledge's little sister is also named Veronica and she, like Ms Lodge, has more money than brains.

The threads are starting to connect, though the exact nature of that connection has yet to be revealed. Stay tuned.

Tut, tut, my good sir. I am merely waving the red flag at the bull, as I think you well know, and I am most gratified by your response. By all means, continue to regale us with your exquisitely crafted metaphorial ballads and your stunning mastery of scansion, rythm, and plot. As a matter of fact, I think you should start doing what WAV has been doing for years and post them all over the Internet on every possible site, blog, and forum, not just in this little hidey-hole of ours here. You could become a household word if you were to persist in that endeavour, and you would soon have a mailbox full of fan mail (plus a little hate mail, probably) and you would be besieged by groupie girls who would hide in the hedges and tap on your windows at night.

What is holding you back?
