It's working now. I had to reboot my computer to get the problem sorted out.

Had a really good run today: 10 out of 10 pistol, 10 out of 10 rifle, and 4 out of 4 shotgun in 1.09 minutes. Course was a distance of about 75 feet from first station to last, and of course I had to load and fire the shotgun twice -- it's a two-pipe shotgun.

Chonga couldn't hit a barn from inside. Chonga TALKS a lot, but I've known others like that...all talk, and when the chips are down they fade away like an insubstantial pageant, leaving nothing behind but a faint whiff of their foul breath and worse body stink. Chonga doesn't know a Cutts compensator from a condom or the difference between direct and delayed blowback. Chonga thinks that a sear is something you do to tofu. Chonga thinks all .45s are the same -- that you can get a .45-70 into a 1911A1 by using a hammer to load it.

It is fun to see the giants competing at stuffing thoughts into an imaginary head and then reporting what is in there...

Capers do not clog... they step dance. And I could watch Nat at it all night long.

Rap... what is you procedure for two-pipe reloading? Can you start with (any weapon) loaded? I have a procedure that is FAST. What kinda two-pipe were you using? load (including shot and shot size if applicable)?

Well, gnu, I've been using a Stoeger side-by-side 20 gauge with either 8 or 7.5 shot. Since there is no ejector, only an extractor, I have to either put the empties out by hand or put the muzzle up and get them to slide out. Of course, you start unloaded with the gun broken open. I put the shells in my vest (like a coat vest, not a hunting vest) right pocket, the brass ends all together so I don't have to waste a second or two fiddlin' with 'em...if I do it right I can put one between my index and middle finger and another between my middle and ring fingers and slip 'em right in. I could close the gun by a quick downward flip of the stock, but I worry about the parts if I do that so I just close the barrel normally, put off the safety as I raise it to my should, and when it's in line I touch 'er off.

You would have enjoyed the last shooter yesterday. He shoots blackpowder for both pistol and shotgun, so he raised the caplock shotgun to his shoulder, thumbed back the hammers, and fired one barrel. Lots of smoke and flame, but the target was untouched. Same thing for the other trigger...seems he forgot to load the shot!

Oh, you have two single-action revolvers, each loaded with 5 rounds and the hammer on an empty chamber. Your (pistol caliber, lever action) rifle is loaded with 10 in the magazine, chamber empty -- I have nine in the mag because the 10th would be in the chamber and so I hand load it from my upper left vest pocket. You carry the pistols to the pistol target area, the rifle is put in a rack (action closed) in the rifle target area), and the shotgun broken open and empty in the shotgun area.

You can point your weapons anywhere, as long as it's in a 170 degree arc to your front. Cross-drawn holster cannot deviate more than 30 degrees from the vertical line of your leg. Weapons are cleared at the unloading table, and rifles are carried, muzzle up, actions open, to a rack when they've been cleared. Revolvers are carried in your holster after being cleared.

The loading table is at the other end of the "run" from the unloading table. After you load you cannot leave the firing line unless you leave your pistols, etc. on the loading table (muzzles downrange) or in the racks on the firing line.

Lead bullets only, preferably flat nose, to prevent back-spatter (even though the targets are angled to prevent it).

Violate ANY of the rules and you're out of the match. These folks are SAFETY conscious!

Gazing loftily down your patrician nose at us again, Amos? Are you above the sort of foolishness that Rap and I indulge in? Do you have some useful instruction to offer us to raise us out of our wretched state? How kind of you! I swan, you must be such a generous soul, spending a little of your extremely valuable time gently steering us poor wretches in the direction of some measure of maturity, responsibility, and the other adult virtues that we so clearly lack.

Don't think I'm not grateful! I am. I hope to one day be more like you. Yes, indeed. ;-) I may yet reach those distant heights of perfection that now only glimmer, mirage-like, somewhere far above these mundane haunts in which Rapparee and I daily toil. Oh, would that we too could aspire to inhabit those Elysian Fields which are for you...a natural home! (sigh)

I am considering withdrawing from the Presidential race, for some very personal reasons. Also, I think that it would be in the best interests of the United States that I withdraw. I really have no new platform to offer. What are your thoughts?

Thank you.

Geeze, Little Hawk, you sound just a wee tad sarcastic. Just cuz you enjoy creating fiction compounded upon fiction does not mean you have to get all snotty about it.

See, believing that one is dealing with reality when one is dealing with figment is not a problem you suffer from alone, or only with Rapparree.

It's the secret of the Matrix, dude!

Sorry, old chap! Just couldn't resist.

Well, it looks like Rapparee is composing false Chongo Chimp messages again. Disgusting! I know for a fact that there is no way Chongo would withdraw from the presidential race. He owes it to his faithful constituents, to the nation, and to posterity to continue campaigning until we have a REAL chimp in the White House!

I figure he's got just as good a chance of getting elected as do other worthy candidates such as...

Dennis Kucinich

Ron Paul

Lyndon LaRouche

and Al McFadden

Chongo is in this thing to the finish! He's not a quitter.

I'll bet it's a foreclosure notice. We know he doesn't pay the rent on his sleazy "office" on time and that his bills are always overdue. I think his "personal reasons" are because he's running from the people he owes money to, like the Federal Elections Commission and "Tiny Tot" from the Northside Gorillas.

He might as well drop out--it's nearly election day and he hasn't got a commitment from a single Senator, Congressman, or any electoral votes sewed up. It's all about those humans--a poor chimpanzee doesn't stand a chance. Especially one who is a couple of brews short of a six-pack.

Okay...if it wasn't Rapparee scurrilously posing as Chongo, then it must have been Amos. Who else would bother?

It's true that Chongo's numbers are relatively low at this point. That doesn't mean he couldn't rocket up with a sudden groundswell of support after tonight when Romney and Obama mutually scupper their chances by getting into a fistfight on national TV and calling each other "sc*b*g", "kn*w-n*thing", "idiot-b*y", "m*r*n, and "m*th*rf*ck*r".

Skeptical Nemesis, born in Brandywine, Maine in 1786, terrorized the traders of the SPanish Main, the coast of High Barbary, and the Lowlands Low in his 24-gun ship The Flaming Irrelevant. Skippers of every nation were known to quake when the Irrelevancy was reported on the horizon. Nemesis was known for the peculiar habit of wedging matchsticks between his teeth and lighting them just before he went into battle. He died of complications of ulceration of the tongue before he could be brought to less poetic justice.

APHIDS! SOB!!!! The trailing snapdragons are back outside. I am SO pissed off. I managed to grow three in a pot with transplants from the flower bed that I scattered with seeds from a purchased potted hanging basket a few years ago. They are stunning plants... beeeootiful! And, the aphids don't even eat them but I don't want my house full of aphids. Everytime I pet one it gets squished. And the little fuckers won't come when called er roll over er play dead or perform any tricks for my amusement.

BUT, I did harvest seeds and will continue to do so, until Old Man Winter smites them with cold, that I might embark on a trial of indoor planting of same this winter in fresh soil. If I was a young man, I would journey to a secret spot deep in the fly infested boreal forest of Kent County and harvest a hundred dozen Ladybugs and set them upon the dreaded aphids witin the confines of my abode. Alas, it is not to be so the plants are back outside. SNAP you Dragons so that you may procreate and adorn my humble nest with your rich colours and soothing beeooty.

SOB!!! PMO!!!

BTW... no shit, man. I know a spot where I can harvest Ladybugs. HUGE nests in rotten tree stumps. Now, these nests can pocket me at LEAST 5 large each. But, that would be wrong. Mum Nature is to be respected and never defiled in such manner. Otherwise, I coulda made about a quarter of a mil (yeah, no shit) harvesting Ruffed Grouse feathers during my decades hunting Bonasa Umbellus but I was taught you only kill to eat and all that remains must be returned to Mum Nature at the spot where you got it... that includes EVERYTHING... especially antlers because "trophies" are just not right.

And, a prayer is always said and thanks given.

But, I would like to have a few hundred Ladybugs in my house right now on accounta these plants are stunning and I don't wanna lose em... sniff.

There are aphids on the plants because something is making them a little weak in the garden. They are opportunistic in that way. Make sure you're not over-watering. And if you want to rinse them off with a mix of dish soap in water, spray it on and it should kill them. Orange oil works, a couple of teaspoons per gallon (or it will kill the plants - full strength it is an herbicide).

The debate in which Mister Obama swept the floor with Mister Romney was actually an excitement. Obviously I am more cut out for rambling around and tap dancing on bar tables and such things. Dear Mom,

I haven't mentioned it before, but my MIL is dying. She has around the clock hospice care now and my wife, Pat, has been out in Silver Spring, MD since VERY early Monday morning. I'm preparing so that I can take off with 24 hours notice. When I have to go I'll get back in touch ASAP, but there might be a gap in the loving, caring messages I leave here. When she goes, by the way, she'll be buried with my FIL in Arlington -- her father and several other family members are there as well (you could say it's the old family buryin' ground).

Your favorite child,
Rapparee

Oh, I'm still in Idaho. I'm just preparing for the call. The more I can get done beforehand the faster I can move when the time comes. When that will be I don't know -- could be five hours, could be five months. Just like the rest of us, she might not awaken tomorrow morning or she could outlive us. 'Tain't in my hands and I'm glad it's not.

Now, if it were Chonga or Shame that might be a different story....

Mike and Pat, I'm sorry to hear about this sad occasion. I hope she had a good life and that when it comes time to reflect and share that you'll have a lot to talk about and will be able to share good memories and laughter with friends and family as you remember her.

Gnu, if you use a 1 pint bottle with water and a couple of teaspoons of orange oil (if you have it) or dish soap, that will kill aphids. Orange oil is stronger. If you have a couple of cloves of garlic and a jalapeno pepper that you can mash together, add a little water and let sit for a day, then pour that into the bottle with the soap, even better. Here are more directions you can choose from: http://www.dirtdoctor.com/Aphids_vq758.htm

Well I woke up this mornin'
Had a well-balanced breakfast.
Yeah I woke up this mornin'
Had granola and tofu bacon
An organic banana and some multi-grain toast
'Cause a well-balanced breakfast
Starts yer day off right.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOh, yeah........

A glass of fresh squeezed orange juice
A couple of prunes
Yeah I work up this mornin'
Ate a couple of prunes
Gotta have fiber
Ta make that ol' colon work
'Cause a well-balanced breakfast
Starts yer day off right.

Now all you folks who eat food
Just you listen to me
Get yer fiber and grains
Get 'em organically
Get lots of aerobic exercise
So you won't die too soon
'Less yer hit by a train
Or die of a fecal impaction.
But a well-balanced breakfast
Will start yer day off right.
