One of the staff brought in some lavender and coconut macaroons. I can't decide if I like them. It's a little like tasting soap, but in a not unpleasant way.

I've already heard from PETGB.

Most of the mulch is down in the backyard. I have to get a few bags for touchup and stuff, but the project is nearly over.

We shall feast well tonight, thanks to The Mighty Hunter.

GOLF BALL STEW

4-6 lb. hen
1 lg. onion
2 carrots, cut in pieces
3 stalks celery, cut in pieces
3 qts. water
1 tbsp. chicken bouillon
Four golf balls, killed, cleaned, and with the bullets removed

In a large stock pot, cover hen with water, add vegetables and bouillon and boil until very tender. Allow chicken to cool in the liquid. Remove chicken and reserve for some other future use. Strain remaining broth and put the cooked vegetables in a separate bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add cooked golf balls and thoroughly heat them or drop uncooked golf balls into broth and gently simmer until balls are cooked through, about 15 minutes.

Sorry Amos. My head did stop and I actually slept.

Now, what's this about Rap having four balls. Is that why it is said Rap's got BALLS!

Eiseley: Have you finally gone over the edge and shot up Rapp's balls? I know it has been tempting for a long while now, but I never imagined you would give in to the impulse.

Ah, well, you can always ship the remnants to Goodwill. 'S about all they're good for anymore, I suppose.

How doth the little bumble bee
Improve each shining hour...
And gather honey all the day
From every opening flower!

So let me get this right: Eiseley is having a ball this week?

Bloody damned things! Attacked me, they did. Ravening, they play with their prey, ripping it shreds and tossing the parts around like soccer balls before finally devouring it in a mad frenzy of blood and gore.

Had to shoot a couple more than once, too. One I shot vanished entirely. Thought Eiseley could have them mounted for her den, y'know. Go well there, with the rug made from the skin of the bear she strangled a few months back.

I have sad thoughts for Gnu's bad day.

And for the lowly beasts that Rapp dropped on Eiseley's table. This is most brutal.

Rapparee came to my house and dropped the carcasses of four wild beasts on my kitchen table.

Sorry for being so nasty Mum. Having a bad day. A very bad day.

And if anyone asks why, fuck off.

I think that's clear enough... bad day... that's all... tomorrow is another day.

Time to lay my head down and see if it stops... gnight gnu.

The complete man recognizes the whirlpool of being around him and embraces it for what it is; the incomplete man looks at it and structures it out of existence by saying, "I have information."

You spend your life trying to sort out the truth. You mine the richness of human endeavours throughou thistory, the ancient and the new. You are diligent. You memorize Dewey categories and binary systems of classification. You master EXchangeable Faceted Metadata Language, Faceted classification, Freinet classification, Functional Requirements for Authority Data and 100 more schemas seeking to embrace all the world's collected knowledge with its provenance, its authorities, its cross-references, it factyness. And WHAT HAPPENS??? A buncha Yahoos come along and create Infinitely Renewably Universes of Fictitious Realities (IRUOFR) and the whole lifetime of effort is just laid waste, just like that. It's like Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam suddenly being in charge of the AEC or the TVA. It's ORFUL, is what.

You're both wrong. Penicillin was discovered in 1811 by an African Chimpanzee named Wongo. He was a distant relative of Chongo. Wongo discovered penicillin while trying to find tasty bugs in hollow logs. After diligent investigation he decided that penicillin, while interesting in its own right, was pretty much useless to Chimpanzees. He made some brief notes in his journal about it and pursued the matter no further.

INdeed. I am talking about that WW2 development, starting from scraping mold supplies out of old milk bottles and gearing up to government-scale production starting shortly after Pearl Harbor.

Penicillin was "discovered" by Alexander (not Ian) Fleming in 1928. Purification was needed, and clinical trials in 1942 demonstrated Penicillin's potential. The US managed to produce 2.3 million doses in time for the Normandy Invasion. There were some scientific awards because of this research....

I have NO parotid gland on the left side and one third of a parotid on the right side (the right side was a cell phone induced tumour). Talk cheese and my cheeks suck up in pain. When I walk by the cheese in the grocery store, same thing.

Oh, cheeses keeeeriste I love you my cheddar dearest but I can't even bear your memory!

Beware the cheese. Too much will mess you up.... 5:45h on the operating table the last time. All for the love of (too much) cheese.

Hey, you ever see my chipmunk pics? Cheeeeeses they are nasty!

Not a problem, LH. Let's all save belly button lint and send it to LH for Christmas! We wouldn't want him to go hungry, would we?

By the way, some of the best blue cheese I've ever eaten I bought earlier this summer from a stall at our local farmer's market. The place was called "Shepherd's Cheese" and was made from ewe's milk.

I'll let you all in on a well-kept secret. The best cheddar cheese in the world comes from just west of where Rap is living. My brother sent a can (yes, a can) of aged cheddar cheese at xmas last year and I only now opened it. 30 ounces is a fair amount of cheese and I waited till I thought I'd have a few people around to help eat it. Cougar Gold Aged Cheddar Cheese has to be shipped cold-pack right now, but I'm telling you, this is like the sharpest crumbliest sharp white New York Cheddar you've ever tasted. Break out the toaster oven, MOM, I'm going to make some open-face grilled cheese sandwiches!

Carbon dioxide, a covelently bonded molecule, constitutes about .039% of the atmosphere, less than 400 ppm by volume. The entire atmosphere contains 3.16x10^15 kilograms of the stuff. So what would it take to drag it out of atmosphere and convert it, say, to reels and reels of carbon-fiber monofilament for use in construction and manufacturing? We are not all that far away from the kind of molecular manipulation needed to do this on an industrial scale, and it would reset the imbalance of anthropogenic greenhouse effect to a merked degree. Probably netter than killing all those pine trees to make cheap 2x4s out of. I dunno...

That's not true. None of it. Please tell her that you don't believe it. She's outside my house, a noose in one hand and a sawed-off shotgun in the other.

She was at a Church Camp, teaching basket weaving to little girls. Or something. Something innocent and innocuous. All of her boys are neat, "A" students, well dressed, polite, and little gentlemen.

Really.

Please don't let her hurt me.
